Yes, definitely. A bit of a Vulcan haircut too! If only he didn't have all those crappy lines to say... ("oh and one more thing..")

I really liked this movie! I thought it was very clever and nicely done. I loved the "300" style and the darkness that surrounded the plot. I am still unsure whether it should be 12A and not 15 certificate given the amount of violence and sexual references ... but I guess that's personal. The soundtrack was amazing!!! Overall I would really recommend it, especially if you like videogame style movies. 8/10

Can you believe a couple of 5-6 year old girls were taken to Edinburgh last night? I certainly don't think it was an appropriate film for children. What were the management (and the parents) thinking?

Damn I wish I could've seen this and make up my own mind :( Glad most of you watched it though and even if most of you hated it, at least you formed your own opinion of it. Those of you who didn't go see it because of word of mouth, not impressed! Those few of you who did like it...alright, the couple of you that did like it, seem to enjoy certain elements of it that makes me want to see it on Orange Wednesday, such as soundtrack (well done Syd, nice to see someone still p*ying attention to soundtracks even of bad movies!), hidden layers of thought provocation (AYBG seems to be the only one championing this element but its enough to pique my interest and find out if he is taking stuff he should not be taking at Uni). And ooo...the sexy girl action power thang, ok I'm sold. If I was a Hollywood executive, you'll probably guess what kind I'll be.
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

Yes, Stuartboy, you are right! I thought it was ridiculous that they were allowed to go in because clearly that movie is NOT for 5s and 6s but what I thought it was even more ridiculous is the fact that the parents were taking them! A 7 or 8 year old kid was sitting beside my friend and he seemed to be in a chatatonic state! Poor thing ... Parents should be more careful. Management have to let them in if they are taken by their parents, I think.

My theory is that role was written for Stephen McHattie, but maybe there were scheduling conflicts so Scott Glenn was the backup.
There's some very deliberate re-casting of Watchmen actors in this film, utilised in very interesting ways.
When we first meet the cook, Mozart's Requiem is playing on his radio. The same piece played in Watchmen as we see Veidt standing in the ruins of Karnak towards the end. The actor who plays the cook was the fat thug under the employ of Big Figure in Watchmen - trying to get into Rorschach's jail cell - the one who has his arms cut off. The second thug is dispatched as such:

Remind you of anything in Sucker Punch? A pivotal moment perhaps?

Then there's Carla Gugino as Madame Gorski. The name is a reference to the Neil Armstrong legend, and it was referred to in Watchmen too - in the opening credits, with Dr Manhattan on the moon, Armstrong is heard over the radio delivering the famous line. A story about a woman being pressured to give a blowjob and unwittingly forced to, it's more relevant here. Gorski is "owned" by Blue and frequently threatened with rape. In Watchmen, Gugino's character is the victim of a rape attempt. She later willingly sleeps with the man.

Then there's Snyder's son, who was the kid getting onto the bus at the end. In Watchmen, he was the young Walter Kovacs who mauls his bullies, and in 300 he was Leonidas's son, being taught by his father on steps in front of a courtyard almost exactly like that in front of the temple in Sucker Punch.

It's pretty conclusive that Snyder is an auteur.

Am off to the IMAX tonight to watch this with the tickets that I won. Yay me!
Not quite sure what to make of the reviews however, I hope its not as bad as people have said it is.
If it is anything like Watchmen then I will be disappointed.
