Yep, the magic word... free!

Skill Wizard (same guy who does free films at the Alibi) puts on a monthly event at Old Blue Last, usually of the thrash/doom/death variety.. http://www.theoldbluelast.com/ My last one there was pretty good (Devil, Age of Taurus, Serpents Venom).

The Unicorn in Camden is also worth a look.. http://www.facebook.com/theunicorncamden Apparently Necro Ritual "destroyed it" last week and I still haven't seen them!

Watched Kylie last night at The MEN, she was amazing her voice is so beautiful and the costumes were stunning. If anyone is going to see the show please don't leave before the end the finale is truly breathtaking, I know that Valda is going so don't want to give away too much.

Ah I'm not going anymore, I decided to sell my ticket and go to see Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake. I was never a Kylie fan and only decided to get ticket because I was getting a load for my mates.

I'll tell thrm about the finale though vx

Just watched the trailer for Swan Lake it looks really good and very different; how people get the ideas to do such an adaptation is beyond me but glad that they do. I have only seen the traditional Swan Lake which I just adored.

I'm the other way round, I've seen the Male version and have the DVD. But, its such a rare chance to see it again. It is being filmed in 3D for Sky in July

I'm going to see Kylie at the 02 arena on monday, and I'm soooo excited! Have read lots of positive reviews on how really spectacular her current show is.

Haven't seen her perform live before, so I'll be there till the very end.

How fantastic for you! I must recommend that you go or leave via the river. its fantastic, you can get on at the London Eye and it drops you right outside the O2. its especially great at night when you see London light up.

In case anyone who isn't going to Swan Lake
is interested in more info on the concert Beate posted this morning, I just found this:

A one-off performance by the pianist and conductor, Daniel Barenboim,
will take place in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern on Friday 8 April 2011.
The celebratory performance marks the 60th anniversary of Barenboim’s performing debut.

At 21.00, Barenboim will be joined by fellow musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin on the Turbine Hall Bridge for the live concert and talk. Visitors will also be able to watch the event in live relay on a big screen in the Turbine Hall. Barenboim will perform an all-Chopin programme and talk about how engaging with music and the arts can make a difference.

Drawing people of all ages and background towards music has been at the heart of Barenboim’s beliefs throughout his career. When founding the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra with the late Edward Said, the aim was to promote mutual understanding and communication by bringing together young musicians from Israel, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Tunisia. The unique young orchestra has since toured the world with their shared vision of peaceful co-existence in the Middle East. In the same spirit Barenboim has founded music kindergartens in Ramallah and Berlin in 2004 and 2005. Through the Barenboim-Said Foundation, based in Seville, he has inspired the creation of an Early Childhood Music Education Project, a Music Education Project in the Middle East and an Academy of Orchestral Studies in Seville. Barenboim’s performance at Tate Modern on 8 April will be another cornerstone in the endeavour to relate to audiences in ever new ways, opening up the perception to musical experiences.

Tate Modern has been at the forefront of making arts and culture accessible in innovative ways ever since it opened and Barenboim with his fellow musicians will embrace this unique opportunity to take audiences on a journey to unlock the meaning of musical works including pieces for piano solo.

Daniel Barenboim said:
‘Engaging with music and the arts is one of the most important things we have in life. Performing a piece of music and listening to it with an open mind can tell us many things about the world and ourselves. If people can reach mutual understanding and even harmony over a work of art in this world of conflict and despair, this gives me hope and encouragement that we reach with the arts where we can’t get with words alone.’

All tickets to his performance at Tate Modern are free, with limited capacity. Please register here for tickets: http://decca.com/barenboim/index.html (link below).

The event will be relayed live into the Turbine Hall on big screen.
