maybe because last night was the one and only performance? I mean, maybe for some other play/ballet they record few nights in a row and take the best?
I don't think they usually record on more than one night, apart from anything else that would put the costs up significantly.

I think the difference is that generally they record it like a live outside broadcast where you see then see it 'as live' after the event. An example would be the NT Live encore screenings of Frankenstein. That was what I was expecting, but this recording seemed to be creating a film version - with jumps in location like in a feature film. There appeared to be breaks between the ends of 'scenes' and the re-start rather than continuous movement.

prettyxcool wrote:Well done to everyone who stayed to the very end! I did too, it was so captivating! A special award should go to 5rannoch though!

I thorough loved it! Brilliant, amusing, enchanting, absorbing, fascinating, great choreography, fantastic sets, costumes, and those men dancers, WOW, such strength and stamina. The re-takes did not bother me, could watch it all night over and over again, you just can't beat live entertainment. The whole thing: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! o/

I was in First Circle, in the second from back row, but they left the back row empty. Had a great view of the whole show. It was lovely to see so many FMUKers before, and during the interval. But so sorry to have missed you Celini.

On the way out at the end, I found myself following behind the guys from Hustle, Adrian Lester and Marc Warren. Adrian Lester was holding his wife's hand and Marc Warren looked like he was with his mother, and they stood outside ringing for their chauffeur?

I also made it to Little White Lies this morning! :giggle:
I stayed as well and also thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my friends.

I also saw David Baddiel arrive. I didn't see Adrian Lester though, if it was definitely him. Marc Warren was with David Harewood at the interval, we were right next to them in the bar. We were also following David Harewood and partner down the road afterwards, not that far behind you pxc.

NOw I'm all Swan obsessed for the time being, I got out my DVD from 15 years ago to see how that was done. There were quite a few bits especially at the beginning where one bit was put on top of another bit. (sorry not very technical bit I don't know how to say it)

I have to once again say how wonderful the company was. considering they are not perfoming as a company at the moment, and were all gotten together to get this done. This would have been a very intense period, and ias ts a piece that would knock the crap out of you, they did very well,
I've been watching this TV series on the Royal Ballet and what they go through is sheer hell 8O so to suddenly have to rehearse and then perform this piece for hours must have been a huge shock to the system.

ps loved the way they applauded each other when the curtain went down
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Well that was a very exuberant performance by the Philharmonia tonight, and wow, Mahler's symphony no.1 is certainly a dramatic piece of music. People have tried to put me off Mahler in the past, I realise now they're idiots. Well deserved standing ovation at the end, 9.5/10 (the triangle guy was too loud ;) )

We also really enjoyed The Philharmonia and Mahler's Symphony No. 1 was terrific. This was conducted by Lorin Maazel and we felt especially lucky to have been offered free tickets.

Didn't go myself as I was too tired but the friend I gave the tickets to just called me to say thank you and how amazing it was!
Lets hope that there might be more tickets for Maazel/Mahler during this series. :cross:

I was surprised as the place was full, but then after the tickets came up here the times made it their 'recommended' for the week so i expect there won't be more for this series :-(
as a matter of interest i have NOT ONCE received an email offering me tickets from SFF so i rely on people here. Dont know what i'm doing wrong. so i'm saying thanks to you all as i can't on the thread.

There were still tickets available on SFF just over an hour before the concert started, so it doesn't seem to have been sold out.
Did the Times mention the concert on 17th and 28th, as well?

... I never get any emails from SFF, either, but sometimes there are messages on Twitter (still getting used to checking there, though).

Yes we are also grateful to FMUKers who post the free theatre and concert codes. Occasionally we get an email from SFF about these but it is ALWAYS blank and in spite of number of emails to them we have had no answer as to why. So thank you to those who post the codes and give us some really interesting nights out.
