Have any of the people who did join VIP ever managed to get such tickets?
Or is it just a trick to make normal mortals wish they were VIP?!? ;)

I don't think people mind p*ying a little if it was anything half decent, but especially on the theatre/concert side, it's almost always something that's not selling.

Re: the code I managed to get tickets for Sunday too - the only date that there was an issue was friday.

Re: VIP ticket. I was wondering if it was just a ploy too. However I did meet someone last night who is a VIP member and she regularly receives the theatre and cinema ticket codes before everyone else
. She thought that it was worth it, but then she never uses any sites for for tickets anyway

Well you're hardly a VIP if you're getting alerting to tickets for things that are not selling. Although not always true, there is a general correlation between ticket sales and the quality of something (lets not be too snobbish okay! lol)

Don't know about the plays (only went to one so far) but the all the concerts I got tickets for were excellent and would have been worth a little bit extra ...
but from the posts in the VIP thread here I had the impression that poeple regretted having joined the VIP lounge because it didn't seem to make any difference?!?
Then again, even before the VIP option there were some people who always received e-mails from SFF and others (like me) never!

But I think the feedback is good when it's free, but normally it's a different matter if you pa*d for it, your expectations would be higher

Hmmm, not sure - and too tired to think about all the implications - but if I find a concert or theatre performance or a film was not good I don't tend to give it a better rating because it was free. I might say "I am glad I didn't have to p*y for this", though.
(And the concerts I would have gladly pa*d for if I had an income a the moment.)

Obviously there's the occasions we don't find the hidden gems, but generally speaking if something is that good and people are that keen to go, I very much doubt it would ever end up being tickets released by SFF for concerts or theatre shows

I too went to see Wastwater yesterday evening. My oh refused to go so I asked a friend of mine if he wanted to come along with me. The highlight was indeed the free beer/wine. My friend and I thought the script was poor and didn't particularly enjoy the play.

I had pre-booked (and pa*d for!) this but was so horrified by the reviews that I told the theatre they could give my ticket away if allowed to do so. Fortunately for me they gave me a full refund. I wasn't going to mention this when bevvy first posted the deal but since others have now suggested that this isn't the best night out, I shall come clean!
