Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
Just tried to book this via DisneyScreening but the site doesn't seem to work. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
I wonder if they screened the Tangled mini movie beforehand today?
It would be worth knowing, as my main reason for going is seeing that lol. totally Tangled me, but I really dont like the old Disney, what a load of caffuffle it generally is.

Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
I am going to start a petition to keep children out of animated films. I don't WANT them there. They are noisy and fidgety, they talk all the way through, kick seats or start crying and they need the loo 3 times during a film. Honestly, my ear plugs were a godsend today, though they didn't keep all of it out. A_person and the turtle changed seats before the film started but I am not so sure they were happier where they are! Also, if a film is supposed to start at 10.30am, you are in there by 10.30am with your 4 oversized cokes and 4 Sky popcorns, and you sit down quickly and quietly. You do NOT force the cinema management to decide that the film will start half an hour later owing to the popcorn queues. Then again, the cinema are at fault too. Put more people at the till and either let people in earlier or say from the beginning that it will start at 11am! A total disgrace today.
The Tangled mini-movie was very cute though and I did enjoy Beauty and the Beast, which I had never seen before, although it will never be my favourite Disney, and the 3D was a total waste as usual.
7.5/10

Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
Well the kids at Holloway Odeon were lots better than your lot at Greenwich, Beate. I thought they were very quiet and well behaved throughout -- what a change from the last family film I saw there that was full of infants in arms being carried around while they shrieked. At that time I asked the manager why babes in arms were allowed in, he told me he had no control over it if the film was rated OK for kids, he is obliged to allow them in. I asked about the experience for others in the cinema when babies are screaming and he didn't have an answer. So we were very lucky at Holloway today, 'even though Holloway is a dump' (and I am quoting my daughter on that). The only words I heard was a child saying "oh that's so sad" when things looked bad for The Beast. Nice to see SunnySaver, her mum and auntie, Funthing and prettyxcool who were also very behaved.
I enjoyed this. It's very much a part of my daughter's childhood and she remembers being taken to the Barbican cinema with her Dad to see this. I was babysitting son at home but have seen the video many times. I liked the music and think the songs are clever and catchy. Agree that the 3D did little other than make the film dark. What is the point of it??

Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
Saw this at not very full Wimbledon today. Loved loved loved Tangled Ever After - the 3D was good and well used. My friend had never seen modern 3D and was very impressed.
I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast (agree unnecessary 3D) but the animation and characters were good and some of the songs were catchy.
Forgot that there was rugby at Twickenham today but (of course) no tubes or overground to Richmond so getting home was 'fun' too!

Re: Beauty and the Beast 3D
What a f*cking awful audience we had today. The girl in front of us was loudly talking the entire time, I shushed during the short and the mother actually said "shut up" to me. Apparently during a later shush from a_person she said "f*ck off" (which I missed). The child was consistently either crying or loudly exclaiming "Mommmmy....." while standing up the entire time and walking back and forth between the seats in her row. She also had to go to the toilet once (fair enough) which someone else, not the mother, had to help her with. In all the child didn't watch the film once and wasn't corrected by her mother at all who selfishly was watching and assuming the cinema to be her babysitter. Rude, disrespectful and just downright awful to everyone around her (I am talking about the mother here, not the child who clearly didn't want to be there in the first place).
And don't get me started on the ridiculously loud row behind us with their scrunching up of loud bags, kicking of seats and loud talking. Clearly they had never heard of "whispering".
It didn't help that the movie was delayed by half an hour for the few idiots who wanted to get popcorn at the last minute and wouldn't be back on time (their problem, not mine. I'd been there since before 10am and don't want to be punished for their laziness. The long wait made the kids even more fidgety and ensured that the lights came on too early near the end of the screening).
As for the movie: 3D made the image slightly shaky and because of this the lips became out of sync with the voices which really annoyed me.
However, the film itself was just as wonderful in English as it is in Dutch and I am really glad I got a chance to see it on the big screen at last.
And the Tangled short beforehand: so funny! Worth the effort of travelling there and enduring the awful audience (well, almost worth it. There wasn't nearly enough Flynn for my liking, though I do understand Pascal and Maximus provide more of a comedic element which was needed for this short).
