Re: Monsters
Very poor film, I agree with the opinions already viewed and would say this was more of a romance film.
Wish I had seen Rare Exports, which has received very good reviews.

Re: Monsters
Last week it was The American, this week it was Monsters, after both films I left thinking 'was there a point?'. However, at least Monsters was at the newly refurbished Screen on the Green, so the seats were very comfy.

Re: Monsters
I saw this at the Frightfest festival and yes, it wasn't that scary, not much sci fi horror here, more a road movie with romance thrown in. 6/10

Re: Monsters
I think again its a case of bad marketing. After I saw the film I had my Mark Kermode podcast on and the director was on. It was really a road movie not a scary alien movie. There were only 2 actors in it and they had to be in a real relationship, plus there was no script. Everyone else in the film were everyday people.
I thiought it was quite impressive what one person can do in their bedroom with stuff you can get on the high street, well probably Tottenham Court Road 7/10

Re: Monsters
I really enjoyed this movie. I still can't believe that it was made on a 15K USD budget! I saw an interview with the director, and really wanted to watch the movie afterwards. 7.5/10

Re: Monsters
Interesting I really liked the film, as soon as I saw in the beginning lottery funded I really wasn't expecting much and I was even worried at the start when it looked like they were trying to do Cloverfield on an even smaller budget. Luckily it wasn't, I enjoyed the road movie journey, the beautiful cinematography and the clever editing to make it look like the biggest budgeted lottery funded film ever. It really admired the work given the budget. Yes the script was very ropey, especially at the beginning when they suddenly had to get off their train.....but I enjoyed the ride 7.5/10
However I do see what people are saying, when most people expected a horror film or a "monsters" film, it's quite misleading

Edwards said he has no idea where that figure came from, and that the film cost substantially more than that.ucakpam wrote: I still can't believe that it was made on a 15K USD budget!

Re: Monsters
Went to see this in Islington. They played loads of trailers and commercials before the movie (including 1 of the movie itself). Was a bit of a let down in terms of what i was expecting but a nice storyline and drama nevertheless.
