Plot outline:Six years ago previously, a NASA probe returning to earth with samples of an alien life form, crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear, and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures"... The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

On the twitter page there's talk of 'infected zones' in a couple of cites this weekend but I don't know what that means... it might be screenings or just promo events.

Edit: I think it is just them wrapping stuff in the infected tape.

Saw this a couple of months ago and I'm still not sure what to make of it. I left feeling a bit disappointed as I'd heard a fair amount of hype about the film. I went expecting an effects heavy monster movie. What I got was an indie romance/road movie with a few scenes of monsters. Imagine an indie movie that very occasionally stumbles on to the set of a major Hollywood blockbuster before moving on again. I am interested in seeing it again, as I now know what it is and what it isn't, I expect my feelings about it might be different.

I think Monsters is meant to be the competition for skyline and to be perfectly honest, did it really stand a chance? it just makes me remember the shoddy work of district 9 :/ a bit of documentary, a bit of love and despair, then the alien agenda thrown in, with a few odd aliens here and there :/

A failure of a film to me, really boring, terrible dialogue, charecterisation is all screwy, the film looks good, and the CGI is solid, sure, but technical details don't a good film make.
In this case, don't even a bad film make. Just awful, boring and sleep inducing.

there are now infected zones in cinemas across the country and you have to join four square too win prizes, but I think the prizes are just merchandise

Had tickets for Monsters and Rare Exports which were both showing at the Cameo,Edinburgh this morning at 11am. Couldn't decide which one to see but while we were waiting for the cinema to open we opted for Rare Exports.
Then we were told that this was now being screened at 11.30 and to go and b*y a coffee in the bar area until it was ready. So instead we went in to see the start of "Monsters" and decided if we were not pleased with it we could then nip into the screening of Rare Exports.

However, we were quite happy with this film and so stayed there. I agree it was a bit slow at times but worth watching - although wouldn't p*y to see it. 5/10.

I thought this was complete rubbish biggins! I wish I stuck with rare exports. Fell asleep near the end because it was so dire and bleak. Wish I slept in, instead. 2/10.
