The key is: don't over-analyze it! Take it all with a pinch of salt. I really enjoyed it.
Completely agree with this, it's a bit of fun and doesn't try to be what it's not. I'm looking at you Iron Man 2. :nono:

I finally saw this fully and properly with all it's audio today at the Leicester Square Odeon, in possibly the best seat in the house. It reaffirmed what I felt at the Edinburgh screening- I love this film! I thought the trailers for this looked shit and I had fully expected to hate this, but was instead totally won over. It's such fun and so very well made. They did everything right and I loved the cameo/tease, I was hoping for something more to do with that following the credits, but what was there was very interesting in it's own right. I really don't have anything bad to say about this, it's a fantastic comic action-film. The Bifrost looks incredible and benefited from the 3D as did the end credits which looked amazing too. Thor is at least twice as great as Iron Man 2 was disappointing ;)

9/10 - if you haven't already, go see it!

Nice special effects. Not bad story.
If you are fun of X-Man, Fantastic 4, I am number four.... you should see it.

It took us nearly 90 minutes to cover what should have been 6 stops on the underground as we got into a signal failure. Worst bit of tube travelling I have had in a long time!

They let us in at 7pm, and gave us drinks in what seemed to be a Marvel area, with lots of comic characters exhibited, and Thor walking around with his hammer. There were also props from some of the Marvel films, like weapons from Captain America etc. I wished I had my camera on me but I only got the email this morning!

The screening room can be described as interesting but it wasn't comfy as the seats were too tight, there were no bottle holders, and you had to look up towards the screen, craning your neck. We were asked to fill up from the front but point-blank refused. There was (salty) popcorn and water bottles at most seats apart from the back rows so we nicked some from the front row.

To start with we got a 10 minute Marvel adventure in 4D and it was fantastic. This was the first time in a long time where I thought that 3D was fully justified - it was very colourful, and you had objects flying at you left, right and centre. The fourth dimension can only be described as awesome - you had water sprayed at you, air blasts come at you, and a few times you were even poked by something that came out of the back of your seat! Very impressive and well done.

The film itself was just as good a second time round and gets a solid 8/10 again. The only thing that bothered me was the sound that seemed to boom and echo too loudly in the background so I missed a bit of dialogue, especially when Idris Elba was talking for some reason.

After the film most people left but there was a 15 minute toilet and more drinks break before we got another 15 minutes of special features from the DVD, which was nice but not worth staying for apart from the featurette about the new Avengers film which I really want to see now.

All in all, a very long but enjoyable evening, and it was lovely to see bevvy and 5rannoch again - they are quite elusive at the moment.

I am really too tired to give it a thoughtful review, but I thought it was a very uneven film. I am really surprised it's done so well, the best of the 4 superhero films this summer in terms of box office. 6/10
