Re: Tamara Drewe
I am kind of surprised they are showing it at Odeon Leicester Square, it's hardly an odeon leicester square kind of film....

Re: Tamara Drewe
Well people would group Toy Story 3, Inception, Shrek forever after, Knight and Day as the kind of film they show there...
umm...definitely not Tamara Drewe. I know the premiere was there, but they rarely show little british dramas/comedies there. Last time was Harry Brown. It's more of a curzon kind of film, if there's such a thing!

Re: Tamara Drewe
Actually, it was.
Re: Tamara Drewe
I've just caught up with this and although there was no preview for me, I still saw it free with a Tesco/Cineworld voucher. I was in two minds about going as views here seemed quite varied and no-one was wild about it, but I'm glad I went as I really enjoyed it. Several laugh-out-loud moments for me (and others in the audience) and I've never seen so many people at a midweek matinee so maybe it's benefiting from word-of-mouth? Plenty of choice, too, so good to see people opting for this one. My first film in over a month so I wanted to make the right decision when there were so many I still hoped to see.

Re: Tamara Drewe
Watched a preview of this at Birmingham. Have to say I was very disappointed. Firstly the trailers shown before the film were really shaky, couldn't believe how bad it was and was considering going to complain as we were quite close to the front and it hurt our eyes. Was hoping that by the time the film had started it would be ok and it turned out that it was. Secondly though, the film wasn't as good as it had been advertised as being. For me, it seemed to be very similar to Keeping Mum which it had already been likened to but Keeping Mum is so much better. Yes we had a few laughs, such as the two troublesome schoolgirls but the plot seemed to lose itself half way through. Think the producers spent too much time focusing on the others characters and in the process failed to focus on the main character Tamara.
Would probably give this a 2.5/5

Re: Tamara Drewe
4 weddings was a bit over rated. the jokes were hackneyed, but well executed.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
Re: Tamara Drewe
Sorry not had time to read every page but I loved this - and thought Tamsin Greig was the real star... As for Keeping Mum, I found that deathly boring!
