Finally had "lunch" at 5.00 pm - b*ght a Tesco Express bacon and egg sarnie and a single banana. Didn't really want the banana after I'd eaten the sandwich but felt daft carrying it around so ended up eating that as well.
It was bizarre, I felt ridiculously annoyed with myself about the banana, far out of proportion with the actual "misdemeanour". I should have just binned it instead, but that seemed so wasteful. I'm obviously getting too blooming fixated with the diet and need to relax a bit more!!
Got home after seeing last film of the day still feeling pretty stuffed, so decided not to have the chilli salmon I'd planned, thinking that that would make up for the banana episode. However, was absolutely starving by midnight, so I had a pack of those dreadful chemically laden but surprisingly filling and OK tasting Aldi Bacon flavoured noodles.
Which brings me to today’s plans:
Breakfast - Earl Grey (no milk - no lemon) Orange melon/ green grapes.
Lunch - Loads of Salad leaves, celery, grated carrots, chickpeas, + whatever else looks like it would go when I examine the contents of the fridge.
Diner - Salmon Chilli and probably boiled rice or maybe proper egg thread noodles.
Supper - Absolutely not - it's weigh day tomorrow.
Noticed that I'm on a different (thinner) notch when fastening my jeans belt this morning. That's a good sign - Excited for tomorrow's weigh-in, now.
Does anyone know whether dieting brings on headaches? - the last couple of days I've had quite a few bad ones. Could I be dehydrated and just losing water rather than burning up any actual fat? I have tried to ensure that I drink plenty of fluids and eat regularly, but I have heard that if the body realises it's being starved it can decide to preserve energy levels by shutting down the metabolism!
Hmmm....need to research more.
Diane, that's why I came to this thread - I've put on 10lbs since the start of this year - it really can't continue. I'm sure that we can all help each other work towards our weight loss goals and have some fun too whilst doing it.Diane65 wrote:I've just got on the scales for the first time since I started this healthy eating programme and OMGI've put on another 8lbs in the last year...
I agree with Rawr's very sensible reply. We've got to have some treats to look forward to to incentivise our journeys otherwise they would be so unremittingly bleak we'd just abandon them. But it has got to be kept within reason.Diane65 wrote:Rawr-xoxo due to the excessive weight I will just have to dream about the Ben and Jerry's
How about working out the calorific value of you B + J treat but then calculate the extra amount of exercise that would be needed to cancel it out! So, eat the ice cream - but then go for say a walk or a swim. Simples! Result - Thighs and stomach in perfect harmony and the balance is once again restored!
It's great that you feel that way Valda. That is exactly the same way as I do. I'm sure that we can all help each other here by mutual encouragement.valda wrote:I finally got the courage to get on the scale again and yep I've gained another 14 lbs, which is hardly surprising. As luck would have it, there's lots of birthdays at work in the next 2 weeks, plus my own. So I'm trying to ignore the cakes and will not be going to my friends birthday drinks on Friday![]()
This time I'm really going to try and sort myself out ( yeah we've all heard that before)
Seems a shame that you'll miss your friend's birthday bash - could you not go along and just have soft low calorie drinks.
:ClicheAlert: "The hardest step in any journey is the first one"
OK - it is a cliche - but it is one, because its true!
You've already taken that step (and a good few others) - you've realised something is amiss, you're here, your sharing your thoughts and you've got a tracker set up - so well done! We can all help and encourage each other now.
I reckon any physical movement at all counts as exercise. Any effort be it gentle or hard, burns up some calories and works muscles so that potentially helps with fitness and weightloss. Be it hoovering, beating your clothes against a rock, gardening, walking around the shops, cycling, dancing, swiming - everything counts.Beate wrote:......but does anyone have any thoughts on appropriate exercise? Can I count the hoovering I did yesterday?
4 years ago I amazed myself by losing 3 stones in weight by dieting and doing simple exercises for 20 mins twice a day. Mind you the heart attack was quite a powerful incentive!
Obviously, if you have a medical condition it's sensible to check with your doctor first before starting an exercise regime, but if you start off gently and then increase slowly as time goes by, you should find great benefit.
I did simple Arm lifts, Step-ups, push-offs, knee bends and marching on the spot for initialy 5 minutes a session, then increasing that to 20 min sessions over the days as I found they became easier. I did them at home and no special equipment was necessary - unless you count a chair!
Oh No - Sorry - I've got carried away again and posted for ever. Someone elses turn I think!!
