The Muppets
Re: The Muppets
Daughter and I saw this at O2--our first visit and the balcony was very comfortable and roomy so Beate was right in every respect. We did wonder why we had to sit in the dark for 45 minutes. That was silly.
We enjoyed the film. OK, we admit it -- we are Muppets and Sesame Street fans from way back. I liked the old fashioned "let's put on a show" idea and having Mickey Rooney do a cameo was clever as he and Judy Garland were always putting on a show to save something or other. And I liked the fact that it was cute, corny and clever and could appeal to everyone. I think the overhype may have raised some people's expectations but we liked it a lot.
Very glad to see Beate and OH and canadian_turtle (happy birthday again) but sorry we missed so many others. We took the only available pair of seats left and they were on the other side. I'll know better next time.

Re: The Muppets
I posted in the car-park after I came out, before driving. Total time was probably 103 mins as stated.anakin wrote:Does anyone know the actual running time? Is it 103 minutes as per IMDB? I see that MG posted at 12.27, which makes me think it's a little shorter.... planning the aftermath and need to know if I can get somewhere nearby by 1230...?
I arrived at Paisley very early this morning as I anticipated how busy the cinema would be.
I was made to feel very old when I spoke to the Sky girl who arrived after me to find that she didn't really know much about the Muppets as she was only 18 and grew up more with Teletubbies!
Paisley was full and some people were turned away as no seats left(though some do leave it to the last minute and stroll in as a family group and expect to get seated together). One young mum took the seat beside me(probably the last available) and sat with her 7 year old son on her knee for the full showing. Now that's a real mum!
I agree with other comments that the film definitely was nostalgic for those who remember the Muppets with great affection. I loved some of the songs eg The meal for One and the Manly Muppet or Muppety Man. I did find the initial singing to be cheesey but then decided just to go with it!
In many ways, the film was almost setting the scene for future appearances by the Muppets, whether in film or maybe even TV. It was almost a re-introduction to them. I think the film attempted to let younger people know who they were and it ended with the future is bright ..... watch this space!
I had a great morning and am now really looking forward to my next screening tomorrow when I'm sure I'll pick up on some things I missed today.

my daughter is 17, but I made sure she saw the delights of sesame street and the muppets as she grew up and she is still mad for them now.I was made to feel very old when I spoke to the Sky girl who arrived after me to find that she didn't really know much about the Muppets as she was only 18 and grew up more with Teletubbies!
there is an offer on in hmv where the dvds series are on offer for £10 each I believe and the films are £5.

I forgot to mention the most dreadful little girls who started racing up and down the aisle while shouting and giggling. In fact, I'm going to change that to the dreadful PARENTS who allowed their children to annoy others by their bad behaviour. These children were not 2 year olds but children of 5/6/7 year old. Other children sat and behaved.
Why did those parents not make their children behave or else leave?????
Those children did not learn anything about cinema etiquette but maybe their parents don't know either . . . Paisley was full and to my knowledge only 1 lady told them to go back to their parents and to sit down. I do think people would have complained more if they had pa*d!

Also you stood up during the end credits so you may have missed part of the plot. The bowling ball finally came off Gonzo's hand, hit Tex Richman in the head and he gave the Muppets back their studio (which was in no way related to head injury, they state).[/spoiler]
I had a great time seeing it once more, I still love it and would've happily sung along had I not been the only one embarressing myself.
Lovely to see so many FMUK-ers and a very special thank you to Valda for the amazing birthday card (still making me smile) and yummy cakes!

Sorry I forgot to say Happy Birthday in person, glad you had a good day.......and my little niece would have happily sang along with you, she loved the music, sat on my lap dancing away, even swaying to the slow ones.canadian_turtle wrote:I laughed!
