The Muppets

#1 Post by canadian_turtle » Thu Aug 25, 2011 2:12 pm

Sorry if this is a tad early as it won't be released until the end of the year (or early next year for us in the UK! *grumbles*), but at least I'm not as early with this one as I was with The Hobbit! I wanted to share some info and wasn't sure where else to post it.

"As if you didn’t already have a good enough reason to go see the new Muppets movie, here’s another one: Disney announced at the recent D23 Expo that they’re attaching a new Toy Story short film to it. Entitled Toy Story: Small Fry and directed by Angus MacLane, the new short will apparently see Buzz Lightyear left in a fast food restaurant and replaced by a three-inch-tall impersonator, with the real Buzz then having to face a support group for discarded toys while his friends work out how to rescue him."

Now some info on the movie:

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4YhbpuGdwQ
Summary: With the help of three fans, the Muppets must reunite in order to save their old studio from a greedy oil tycoon.
Cast: Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Neil Patrick Harris, Mila Kunis, Selena Gomez, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Zach Galifianakis, Kermit, Miss Piggy, etc. etc. etc.
Release Date: 23 November 2011 (US) and 10 February 2012 (UK)

I don't see anything wrong with that, if Batman and Spiderman are already around and they are summer 2012!
I am sure there's lots of people keen on the muppets

Wish our release date was closer to the US's November one.
Clip I saw at Big Screen was great. Very funny, good song and poignant, tear-worthy. Plus, well, Kermit!

This has become my most anticipated movie especially since I attended the awesome Live with the Muppets session at the Empire Big Screen (thanks again to Candian_turtle for knocking sense into my priorities ;). I can tell you all from the 10-15min long scene they showed, this movie will knock the fans of their feet. Unlike the recent Muppets interpretation of classic novels, this movies goes back to the grass roots of what made the muppets so awesome in the 70s. I'm gonna get schmaltzy here but I am going to admit, I choked up while watching it...um there was a popcorn seed lodged in my throat you see.
My film reviews here . ......My FMUK 2014 ratings.......My FMUK 2011 ratings.......My FMUK 2013 ratings . ......My FMUK 2012 ratings .

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

I think the promise of bazillion 'likes' leading to advance screenings is for the US though, maybe we should wait till they make a similar promise for the UK? ;)
