Wow, people really dont like snow, there was only about 10 people at the Surrey Quays show this morning. Really sad to have missed the vibe and atmosphere of yesterday's show at the 02. Half of that vibe and cheer will have come from C_T, I'm sure but my audience was dead. Dead, dead, dead. Not even the children were making noise, I was inclined to call paramedics out of concern. The only person that made any noise was me, with a few stifled chuckles as I didnt want to call attention from dead people.

OK, so the film. No wait, there was a Toy Story short. I love most of Pixar shorts, they are usually sharp, witty, sometimes poignant, sometimes a little arty but all done with finesse. Unfortunatley, this one lacked it all. Its great to see the gang back having mini adventures under their new owner, Bonnie. But I couldnt help feel a little disappointed with this outing. There wasnt any usual Pixar short finesse and the jokes were not so clever this time. It moved way too fast for me to absorb anything. Mini Buzz was the star but although cute in a way, he was really annoying and everyone else too far sunk in the back seat.

Ok The muppets. I loved the first and last act. I loved the musical numbers too. I still think having now seen the film, that Kermits first song is the best which I had already seen in its entirety.

But its during the middle act that things took a very bad turn for me. It was bad, ok not very bad but damn did it slide, lacked energy and the humour was very off key somehow. Also, I really hated the nudge nudge wink wink "this is just a movie" running joke. I think many of you love that. I can understand that, it is kinda funny. But I hated it, that joke is suited more for the Naked Gun, Scary Movie type films. I want to be immersed with the muppets world and their story. I dont want to be reminded by the protagonists that hey, this is just a movie and we're just acting (even though coming from a muppet, it is kind of funny). It just threw me into a bad mood and for a while during that middle section, I was becoming a part of my zombie audience. I wish it were more like their earlier movies or Roger Rabbit, where they make us believe that muppets and cartoons are a reality for 2 hours.

But then came the final act and oh boy, did it lift my spirits again. The muppets were BACK! And in their full glory of total mayhem and reluctant improv to put on a show. That really turned the clocks back for me and for everyone that loved the Jim Henson days of the muppets, this last act was the best tribute and gift for fans.

Such a pity about the middle act, so will have to just give it

8/10

Went to see it this morning and must admit was a little unimpressed with parts of the film. However generally liked it.

Although not sure that the kids really got it - young boy (5 or 6 maybe) in front asked whether the muppets were going to get mugged or knifed when they left the studio towards the end of the film. I was really shocked but also sad to hear this, kids seem to see things differently now days and what would have been a great happy movie for me 20+ years ago just doesn't seem to cut it nowadays...or maybe it's just kids round our city :(

Saw this at Swiss Cottage (didn't know you'd be there PXC, else would have looked out for you) with OH and a couple of friends. Not as busy as I expected, but then that's the snow for you. Walked 20 minutes through the snow for this and it was TOTALLY worth it.

I felt like I was a kid again, wanting to sing and clap along (I contained myself mostly). We all laughed a lot and loved all the cameos (especially Jim Parsons). I thought it had the right level of cheesiness and fun. Want to see it again!

9.5/10 from me.

What I really really wish is that there were real live Muppet Shows! How amazing would that be!!!

Seen at Cardiff Odeon. Enjoyed what I managed to see but GS disgraced himself and we had to leave before he went into full screaming mode. Seen about half the film and was getting into the Muppets singing and being themselves, did see a bit of product placing but was distracted by small boy (GS)looking for his dropped apple! 8/10

Note to self to bring more fruit/drinks/seat straps next time.

there were only about 25 people at the lea valley screening. braved driving in the snow (today's not so bad tomorrow after the slight melt will be scary with black ice...). so glad i did. so happy and the 11yo nephew enjoyed it too even tho he hasn't really grown up with them. maybe as he has seen them a few times at disneyland. was surprised when i said they used to be on every week.

it was very meta and had a slightly harder edge than the other shows so i see where some of the complaints about this modernised version have come from. nonetheless i loved it and a few hours later still have a big big smile on my face.

anyone see the muppets strike back at fox news? fox news said they were anti capitalist for making the bad guy an oilman. full story here:

Thanks for this - we've just been laughing at how stupid the fox news people are...!
