I've seen the film, but I haven't seen any posters or trailers - do they have some sort of red stripe across them to indicate the age restriction?
I too am not sure what this term means
'Red band trailers' is a reference to certain American made trailers. American trailers start with a graphic that states 'The following preview has been approved for...' Most of these are 'Green band trailers' and have a green background. They are suitable for everyone to watch. 'Red band trailers' are suitable for a restricted or mature audience only. They are known for showing the kinds of things you don't normally get to see in trailers such as extreme violence, swearing and nudity. They start with the aforementioned graphic on a red background and are generally shown before R rated, NC-17 Rated and unrated movies in the US. They can also be seen online (which is the only way we can see them here in the UK). Online they usually have something called an 'Age gate' where you have to input your date of birth in order to prove your age, although you can watch most 'red band trailers' on Youtube (Here's a link to the Kick Ass one NSFW obviously )

And thank you from me, too, KK. I was quite expecting a howl of outrage and to be the only one in the dark. Well, I definitely fit the mature audience category!
Yet in the first few shots, I thought he looked so like the young John Lennon, i.e. as in Nowhere Boy - quite incongruous, given the nature of this film!
