As we were one of the first ones in, we managed to get a table, and the waiters were very attentive. The canapes were plentiful and gorgeous, and I soon couldn't eat anymore. 10/10 for the after-party
What sort of canapes did they serve? :shifty:
Oh, you know, the usual kind, oysters, salmon blinis, mushroom croquettes, scotch eggs with mustard... They were really posh and yummy. :D
We really couldn't stay around for the dessert ones though, it was late as it was, but they sound lovely too. Trust PXC to take pics of the food!

What a fab evening at the after party of the premiere of First Night, I knew it would be at Boisdale of Canary Wharf - a posh restaurant with jazz band. Premiere was weird, no fans outside greeting, or red carpet or journalists or photographers.

Shame about the film, so long, boring and badly scripted, childish story, and unfortunately WIQ was bad with the sound, it seems like the film was badly dubbed and the sound was coming from the back of the room or it was echoing, and film only saved by the brilliant beautiful opera singing, fab Mozart music and lovely scenery of the location of the film.

As expected the film started late at 7.35pm, as people only started coming in from about 6.50pm for a 7pm start and instead of finding seats to sit down they were standing around. Then the film had to be introduced and the stars that were able to make it were introduced by standing up from where they were sitting, but you could hardly make them out as the screening room was so dark, supposed to be Sarah Brightman, Mia Maestro and Julian Ovenden, but they could have been anybody standing up when introduced!

We sat in the back with lovely Beate and her OH, but didn't spot June.

The after party was another thing though at Boisdale at Canary Wharf. Drinks and canapes were flowing, the jazz band were really good, after eating enough we went to boogie the night away and waited for the dessert, which came at 11.20pm after most people had left and only a handful of people were around, drinks were still flowing at the bar. The choc brownies was the melt in your mouth kind, and there were other tartlets and meringues, all yummy. The service was excellent. I went star spotting, only to find Nancy Dell'Olio having dinner downstairs, and actor Ryan Elliott not in the film, but looked liked Julian Ovenden from the film or was it Oliver Dimsdale? :D

Friends liked the film, but said it was not brilliant, and seen better.

5/5 for film, 10/10 for after party!
lol, June always sits somewhere in the first few rows. I can't believe I was on the dance floor with you all night and I didn't know  Sorry for not saying hello but hopefully I will recognise you next time, although saying that, I didn't see Beate?? possibly because I was sitting in the front rows and then I spent the whole night on the dance floor.

Were the FMUKers the only ones dancing? Hay we know how to enjoy ourselves o/ Absolutely fab night, I enjoyed the film, however it was not as funny as I was expecting.

The late start and no free bar beforehand was strange but the after party more than made up for it o/ The food & drinks were lovely and the music was fabulous. O/H and I enjoyed it so much that we were the last to leave...and we would have been happy to have stayed for many hours more! (btw, we only got home an hour ago!)

I'm so lucky and so grateful to a_person for allowing me to use her tickets as I had a brilliant and very memorable night. :D

Woah you only got home a few hours ago - crazy! But awesome that you had so much fun :D

And to all you lucky people attending: I hope you took a few takeaway boxes of canapes away for the rest of us to nibble on today? On the picture they look very yummy!

I didn't drink much as I was on fresh juice ;) I had a 40 min drive home once we got off the train. Can't think straight as I'm sleep deprived, I'm getting too old to be a dirty stop-out lol
