First Night

I'm not quite sure this deserves its own film discussion space but there were a few FMUKers at King's Place yesterday so here is a short write-up.

This is very light, very frothy and something you should really be watching on TV if there is nothing else on. Jeancomp was right (over in the diary thread) when she said it was like Midsomer Murders without the murder though my husband would claim he felt like he was living through his own demise watching it. But that wasn't what a lot of people in the audience thought and the people next to me were raving about it so each to his/her own.

Anyway it was great to see Jeancomp and her OH, Cliveas and Valda.

I didn't stay for the Q&A as husband couldn't wait to get out of there so wonder if that was a bit enlightening. I did like the screening room which is their number one concert hall but obviously a very versatile space and King's Place is a delightful spot on a sunny day as it overlooks Regent's Canal.

Well I've never watched MM so I can't comment on that, but I agree it was light and frothy; however I rather enjoyed it. I do think the presence of Mia Maestro (what an appropriate name for this film!) and some great music courtesy of Mozart rather helped there. Overall I'm very glad that I saw it although it wasn't good enough for me to go and see what the final version from a proper print is like.

And yes, it's always good to see other FMUKers and I am a fan of King's Place - it's a lovely venue.

A work colleague saw me rather depressed yesterday, and proposed me her tickets to cheer me up as she could not make it herself!
I could not make it either, but where did you guys get those tickets? (I did not hear of this screening before she told me!)
Would she be a FMUKers then?

Just got my proper e-invitation through for the premiere tonight. It states: "Dress: If you must". Even OH can follow that dress code. :giggle:

No but I guess OH would be ok in the outfit he wore the other day: Jeans, The Day the Earth Stood Still t-shirt, sandals, Manta coat and baseball cap with "Salzburg" on it. :giggle: (Although it wasn't funny at the time!)
