Saw this today using my Cameo Picturehouse vouchers that were due to expire soon. My friend and I were looking forward to it as we like Ryan Gosling and enjoyed Drive - but this is nothing like Drive.
Slow movements while weird music plays! A lot of very violent scenes and also scenes that leave you wondering if it was real or a dream. Not for me I'm afraid. :noo:

I don't like Marmite!

oh i forgot to review it!

well like many i was very much looking forward to this but left feeling a bit disappointed over all.

i HATED the karaoke bits and the over all feel was like a poor mans tarantino/lynch.

i did think that kristen scott stewart was brilliant though!

6/10

I think she is a Scott Thomas though I like the idea of a Scott Stewart!

Drive was enjoyable but far more flawed than its reputation suggests. This seems to have all of the flaws but none of the merits that Drive had...

Oh dearie dearie me.
27 - count them - walk outs from a p*ying screening?
I can understand why.
As a piece of art this is a masterpiece of cinematography, soundtrack and is visually stunning (not to mention realistic and gory), but as entertainment it is seriously flawed, let down badly by hammy acting (Gosling - move your face for gawd's sake it's called an expression!) and a very slow and confusing story that doesn't quite hang together let alone make sense. I think having the titles in ?Malaysian from the start was just pretentious. The scenes of karaoke singing served no purpose and were unnecessary. A lot of this film was just weird for weird's sake.

What with all the realism and stoamch-churning gore that abounded, what on earth did one character appear early on in the film looking like his shirt had been drenched in Ribena? For heaven's sake - we know what blood looks like and Ribena it doesn't.
And what was the surrender at the end about?

Hey - who spotted the postie out of Scottish soap Take The High Road? And didn't the mum remind you of Harris Ryland's mother from New Dallas!

5/10 - a marmalade film.
