Anywho I shall end this post with some food for thought: in France, Kick-Ass is rated a PG.
LOL, bless them. I remember my first visit to France, and dropping my jaws at their public film posters of sexy films which held nothing back on the large billboards. Even Amsterdam is a little more covered up!

Thanks for the education on certification, very interesting (though bloody complicated), but I certainly cant dispute it coming from a promising film maker!

valda wrote: I was there too. Mr G shame I didn't get to say hello. So, we got there and there was about 5 people sitting down. The usher people come in, saying 'who let them in' and that 'its going to cause problems' they asked one couple to move so they could reserve the seats, but when I asked should I move, he said I'd be ok, so I stayed in the middle towards the back. The reserved seats were for the press so that's probably why there was no real atmosphere in the place. they didn't even look like the sort of journalists who would like the film. Anyway we ended up moving again as we had some noisy girls behind us. As the reserved signs were taken away we thought we'd get there but weren't allowed, so, ended up crammed on the sides - why on earth did I move in the first place?

So back to the film, on my second viewing I still enjoyed it immensley. However, I seemed to remember there being more action and less talking. Strange what the memeory does.
Yeah, it is shame seeing we didnt get to say hello especially as I dont get to see much previews. Hopefully next time! Interesting what you say about your 2nd viewing. I really do think its to do with the atmosphere. The first time you went, I am guessing the crowd was pretty jazzed up, and as a result the movie will appear to be more pacier. More laughter and noise at key scenes in the film kinda makes a film race along nicely. I have seen many films more than once in a cinema and almost every time on my 2nd or 3rd viewing, the film seems to roll a lot slower and either 2 things happen, there is more detail and nuances to absorb, or the opposite happens, the film seems more shallow.

Well, good for her! I think she will be breath of fresh air presenting the show, seems like she loves films. Good luck to her!

So it seems critics watches most screenings at 9am in the morning according to her interview. No wonder they are overly critical because they would be bloody grumpy at that time of the day!

I don't want to pass judgment on her yet. I'll wait to see the first programme to do that. My initial reaction however was one of disappointment. Her bits on both the Golden Globes and the Oscars were excruciatingly embarrassing and had me shouting at the screen everytime the US broadcast cut to a break, as that usually meant more of her. She does seem to be quite enthusiastic about cinema though, so she might fare better in something that isn't live. I would have liked to have seen Mark Kermode get the job personally. Still it could have been worse, they could have given it to Fearne Cotton.

Weird possible coincidence though, Winkleman is married to Kris Thykier, who was one of the producers on 'Kick Ass','Stardust' and new John Madden film 'The Debt', which were all co-written by Jane Goldman, who is married to Jonathan Ross, who presented the show last. Spooky.

Maybe its that connection that drew the producers to Winkleman, so not as coincidental as we may think ;)

Noticed some nice little details myself yesterday.
First, I don't know if anyone else saw it, but Chris D'Amico can be seen beaming in the background in the scene in which Kick-Ass finds out about Red Mist.
Also, I was scanning across some of the comics you can see in said store, and in one shot in the middle of the foreground (most people's eyes would be on the characters in the background) there's a comic called Clint (in capital letters). Very cheeky of Mr Vaughn or whichever set designer decided to make it and put it there.

If you don't see what I'm getting at, have a look at this article:
http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/language ... 02971.html

If there actually is such a policy, it's perhaps a nice nod to the medium. Incidentally, on the other forum I frequent I once knew a user who called himself CLINT FLICKER...

MK said on the podcast that he's never been asked and never would be asked as he's too opinionated. However Claudia Winkleman? What on earth is that about? Ah well at least I won't bother watching the show
