I wasn't looking forward to going to this as couldn't face another dud film, but for the sake of my art I was just about to hop on the bus to Holloway, when my friend called to ask me to join her at a corporate event at Churchill Hotel, of course, I went without hesitation! So instead had lots to drink, lots of canapes, tiramisu, brownies, and a Clarins goody bag to take home!

Don't bother, quite frankly. Saw this yesterday (Weds) courtesy of Slackers Club at the Hackney Picturehouse. Only 7 of us in the MASSIVE Screen 1 - it was almost like a private screening. Now I know why. Slow and boring. I'm sure it's got something deep and meaningful to say but it was lost on me. Sean Penn is good however, right down to his gait.

they completely slashed David Byrne atmospheric performance to a mere 30-seconds shot... this was the original version
Thanks for posting this & for the recommendation!

So did I - some pretty poor films recently followed by the very good Headhunters which I thought wouldn't be bettered for some time, but I was completely wrong. If this isn't my favourite of the year then there's going to be a really good one coming.
I hadn’t made the connection between the title and the Talking Heads track and having David Byrne in it along with his soundtrack would have made it worthwhile by itself, for me.
The always excellent Frances McDormand (I’m a fan) was sadly not used that much but there was an outstanding central performance from Sean Penn. A decent actor certainly, but I would not really have described myself as a fan. I am now! The character of Cheyenne was quite something and Penn managed to extract humour from the smallest of mannerisms. The writing also managed to make everyday occurrences funny e.g. splashing pedestrians and somehow that suitcase just got funnier.
A bizarre film and definitely a matter of taste but as far as I am concerned it was excellent. And did I mention David Byrne?
I am so glad to hear that it has been re-cut. I was begining to wonder if I had seen the same film after reading some of the October reviews referencing bits I had no recollection of (and before you ask I didn't sleep - makes a change!)
