Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
So... went to the "special" screening at Cineworld Haymarket tonight, waited in the queue outside for ages, spotted one or two mini-celebrities being ushered in first, then finally allowed in. Luckily it was the big screen, we got free popcorn and bottles of water, then the unfunny T4 pillock presenter turned up to introduce a magician on stage. I really thought it would be something special, but the guy just did a few card tricks before "magically" summoning up Jay Baruchel on stage... Jay only said a few words, kept his head down and seemed really shy.
Anyway, the film itself was okay, not much of a plot, two sorcerers (Cage and Molina) battling each other to save/destroy the world, throwing bolts of energy around and that kind of malarkey, while the "apprentice" (Baruchel) runs around a lot, going "What was that?", etc. It had some funny moments and few interesting special effects, and I guess if you liked movies like Prince of Persia and The Mummy Returns, you might like this... but I don't have the urge to go see it again tomorrow (like I did with Kick Ass and Inception for example...)
Minor highlight... Alice Krige (the Borg Queen from Star Trek!) who plays the evil Morgana, even though she's only on screen for all of 60 seconds.. But overall about 6/10 at best.

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Decent enough hour & 40 mins family entertainment.
Same ol same ol plot... Ridiculous ending even if it was highly predictable.
Best bit was the Star Wars Jedi mind-trick quip.
6/10
BTW, great seats at Islington (thanks Mimi for keeping one spare), massive arm rests... What? So I'm easily impressed like that!!!
