When we came close to the Odeon Covent Garden we encountered the most almighty queue and I got really frightened, thinking it was for this! But it turned out they were queuing up in front of a Halloween decorated store...
It got pretty full but there was plenty of room still in the back which is why it really irritated me when one single person sat down right in front of me. One seat to the left and she wouldn't have been in anyone's sightline! So I swapped seats with the OH.
I really liked the film because it felt a very real portrayal of a family. To be honest, it would have worked just as well with a Mum and a Dad (I know which one would have been the Dad!), including the infidelity and both of them thinking their son is gay and going all "we support you whatever you are" on him. Even the sperm donor situation could have happened. Also, Julianne Moore and Annette Benning did show their age, they didn't seem over-makeup'd for this one. Does the director have a food obsession though? I got so hungry watching them eat all the time. And would two lesbians really get off watching gay male porn? And how likely is it that one of them would have started an affair with a guy? It did succeed though in showing them being a normal family without judging once or even mentioning that anything was different.
7.5/10

Well I agree with Ethanrunt -- I hated the film. I thought it was dull and there was absolutely no feeling amongst any of the characters. I really was looking forward to this as the two leads Julianne Moore and Annette Bening are usually good but not in this. And it was all so predictable -- deadly boring and overhyped.
So glad I didn't p*y to see it.

I would also give this 7.5/10 (i.e. the same score as Beate) but with a less positive review. I don't think it had been over-hyped but I was still disappointed and felt it didn't live up to my expectations. It was OK, and fair enough, a neat Hollywood-style ending would not have been credible, but on the other hand, it seemed meandering and inconclusive.

Wow, we were in Screen 2 at the Cineworld in the Trocadero tonight for this - and I did not know such a big screening room existed in this shabby cinema! It was packed. And when I arrived around 6pm, my friend told me that they had already started letting everyone in from 5.45pm so no queuing, but alas all the back seats were taken, except for an odd seat here and there, so we took the second row from the back, but not enough left, so we were one short to save for Sunny Saver and family! Sorry Sunny Saver, didn't know there were so many of you! Saw ucakpam come in and later waved to her at the end.
My friend and I really liked the film, we felt like Beate, that it was a very real portrayal of a family. I had no idea what the film was about and so found it interesting and refreshing how the storyline was explored and I thought all the actors played their roles really well. I really liked Julianne Moore in this, and I thought Mark Ruffalo was very hot in this film!
The only downside for me was that it was a tad bit too long and got a bit boring towards the end. 8/10

I was surprised by screen 2, too - it was massive, compared to all the other auditoria I've seen at the Troc. But the view isn't too good - the rake is insufficient to prevent the heads of those in front blocking your vision.

liked the movie, would give it a 7/10
we were at Trocadero as well, impressed with the room, got in at 6.15pm so we went for the 6th or 7th front row. The view was excellent, no to close and no problem with people obstructing our view... the only "problem" were those 2 girls seating in front of us keeping 7 seats on 2 rows from their very late friends in a very packed room!!! the extra girls arrived almost 10 minutes after the film had started!!! outrageous!

Agree with you there Ms Thrifty, the incline was bad! Luckily the tall guy in front of us who could have obscured our view had to steer his head low to the left as there was another tall guy in front of him!!

Also, annoyed at so many noisy latecomers, two blocking our view as they tried to get into the middle seats in the row in front.
Thanks kevinknapman for your review, always enjoy reading them. I try not to read reviews before I see a film. I totally agree with you, and you say it so much better!!

Yes, I had to move to avoid the "big hair" of the lady in front and I was the first one in so had had the pick of the seats!
Frustrating still to be unable to meet any other members - I thought I was absolutely bound to meet some at last tonight, but of course, some people went to Covent Garden and anyway, I don't know what anyone else looks like.

Oh, Ms Thrifty, I did ask who was coming earlier in this thread, so I could look out for anyone! Next time!

Well I didn't know for sure that I would be - it was a question of working out whether I could do enough in one day to make it worth the trip, but as I was able to fit in another film and a play, it was. Otherwise I'd have offered my tickets.
