The Kids Are All Right
Probably soon to be known as 'That lesbian film'......
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/k/The-Kids-A ... 82083.html
Two teenaged children get the notion to seek out their biological father and introduce him into the family life that their two mothers have built for them. Once the donor is found, the household will never be the same, as family ties are defined, re-defined, and re-re-defined.
I read about this in the Guardian some time ago http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/jul ... ht-lesbian
and I've been looking forward to it for ages, as it seems to be a film featuring a lesbian couple where their sexuality is accepted as normal.
There are other reviews where that element is criticised and the film has been accused of missing a chance to raise a political and social issue, but personally I'm hoping it will just show gay marriage as unremarkable in itself. I'm hoping there are some positive images of gay women, as there are very few of those in mainstream culture.
I'd really like to get to a screening of this, with my (female) other half.

Re: The Kids are Alright
Doesn't seem to say when or where the screening is either. I seem to recall from looking at the magazine last night that it's Thursday 28th at the Odeon Covent Garden. I could be wrong though. I'd have to check the magazine when I get home.
