You're right. It probably isn't meant to be read as ambiguous - it's just ridiculously far-fetched.
Of all the directors out there, I would've expected Nolan to present it in a slightly more believable fashion....but he did screw us in the past with an ambiguous ending so why not again.[/spoiler]

Yes, that was weird, saw him go to the back of the cinema - I thought he must have come into the wrong screening as he was holding a ticket! And if he did he must be able to see that he was in the wrong screening.

I thought only Raj went to the 'wrong' screening!

His ticket did say Screen 1 -- was there something else on after The Dark Knight Rises?

There was a blink and you miss it shot of him in the flashback.
Yes, I had forgotten it was him, until I saw his face in the flashback! He was awesome!

Thanks to Celine for taking me to the premiere as her +1.

I have to say, this film doesn't hold up too well to a second viewing. Too many unnecessary scenes & dialogue. The action is fine, but certainly could have been shot in a more impacting manner. Those final minutes are still some of the best to come along in a long time, though.

I got a few decent snaps from the premiere... more than I thought I would, if anyone wants to check them out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmgphotos/ ... 643661988/
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Is Screen 1 the IMAX? I don't think so.

Nothing on afterwards, as they seem to be shutting up when I left! ;)

oh I take it they used some camera trickery or CGI to get Tom Hardy looking so tall, he looked so short last year in Warrior.

Must be, as I thought he was quite short when hopeprince and I stalked him at the This Means War premiere and managed to get a photo with him. He always seems much taller and hunkier in films.
