Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Saw this in Imax screen at Glasgow Braehead which was only about 80% full. As many others have written, given the high demand for tickets and interest in the film, it does seem strange to have so many empty seats.
Braehead was slightly chaotic with a table for Sky guests and one for SFF guests.
Seats were allocated but no choice given as to where seat would be. We were there at 5.45pm and near the front of the queue. However, we were allocated seats at the front of the screening when our choice is always to sit at the back.
We then had to sit with a blank screen until 7.20pm. So much for "the red-carpet link" from the premiere!
No explanation was given for no video link and our only entertainment was watching folk coming in which seemed to take for ever!
Now to the film: I do wish I had refreshed my memory of the last film as it took me a little time to settle into the story.
I think the film was overly long though the ending was spectacular!
I find it hard to imagine that there will not be another Batman film but with Robin complete with his mask! This was definitely hinted at!
Overall the acting was good though I did have to concentrate hard when Tom Hardy (Bane) was speaking. When I first saw him I thought I was back in "The Silence of the Lambs".
Christian Bale (as Batman/Bruce Wayne) gave a very good performance but why the daft voice when Batman?
Anne Hathaway almost looked deformed with a tiny waist and much broader hips (think she must have had implants!!!)
Yes, there are holes in the plot but then "It's not real!" . . . it's a comic hero come to life!
The musical score was loud but great!
Delighted to have seen the film, especially for free, as I would have pa*d to see it.
Would I see it again? . . . probably not!
Marks 9/10

Yeah, same experience in Soton although at first it seemed really crazy busy. Arrived at 6.15 and there was already a massive queue stretching all the way up and round the corner and all the way to the loo at the far end. Literally as long as it could have been without doubling back on itself. Staff came up and down counting the number of people etc. But when we got into the screen, well, it's the biggest so there were loads of spare seats, even right at the back which are the best seats for IMAX. After the initial wave only trickles of people arrived.McG wrote:We then had to sit with a blank screen until 7.20pm. So much for "the red-carpet link" from the premiere!

Minus points for the staff sat right next to us, discussing stuff loudly during the film.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I saw this at packed Uxbridge we didn't get allowed in until 7ish
First time I'd been in the IMAX there and glad I choose it over Wimbledon IMAX. Much better screen (and parking only £1
)
I thought film was a little slow to start but after about 30 mins or so
Then I was glued. wow.
Couldn't believe how long it was when we left I was shocked it was nearly 10
Fantastic film. Loved the ending too but not as good as dark knight
Tom hardy was great but agree with others at times a little hard to understand.
9/10 from me.
And would definately see again
Would definately go a see again.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I think I am one of those who had really high expectations for this and ended up slightly disappointed. I am a big fan of Batman Begins (yeah I prefer BB over TDK) and was expecting to enjoy TDKR at least as much as BB; it was not the case
I loved the first 20-30 minutes and the ending of course, but for me the rest was a mess of action sequences and characters I could not give a damn about! I did not care much about Bane (poor Tom Hardy reduced to a monster!), Catwoman (and certainly not) Miranda Tate; I wanted to see more of Alfred (why the heck did he disappear mid-movie?), Fox and Gordon. Those guys are the heart of Nolan's Batman films and certainly have some of the best lines in BB/TDK.
And Bruce/Batman, it seems like he was a supporting actor in his very own feature! Bah!
I was very impressed by Joseph Gordon Lewitt (I had a problem with him as I hated 50/50 for different reasons) and I think the film should have focused more on him as Nolan did not seem to want to focus on anybody in particular.
Bane's voice was sometimes a problem for me, so were some other characters' voices. I missed quite a lot of dialogue over the entire film, but I put that on the fact that I am not a native speaker and was rather tired.
Will I watch it again anytime soon? I don't think so. It's definitely very well crafted and the 165 minutes flow by but I would have prefered Nolan to spend more time on character development and less on brute action.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
pretty awesome punkass of a movie. Not perfect, but part 3 movies are usually stinkers.
Security at Kingston was all over the house, at the door, a the cinema entrance and outside the auditorium. After all that, they didnt want my netbook!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
It was a long movie, but not overly so… it was a really good movie if not a great one. Liked the few twists thrown in near the end. It was much better than I had expected number 3 in a money making trilogy to be and yes I would p*y to go and see this. The IMAX Glasgow was 90% full and seeing the movie on that screen was definitely the way to go. The actors Batman/Blake/Alfred did a great job, but could have been used more in the movie. Couldn’t take to Bane/Catwoman characters – I know it’s a comic book movie, but their characters didn’t seem “real” enough to me. I would definitely recommend this movie to just about everyone and if possible go see it on IMAX. 8/10.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
O2 Greenwich was about 90% full. Also the security weren't heavy handed, but did tell people if they were going to be using their phones they would be escorted out (fair enough)
The film was nothing short of sensational. It's not until the first fight between Bane and Batman that the action really kicks in, but from then on its a rip roaring action film. It very much follows the story from Knightfall comics. The ending is just right. It will go down in history as one of the greatest trilogies ever made. Chris Nolan doesn't make a bad film.
Nolan for Bond?
