Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
ooh I liked the brooms and mops bit! Reminded me of Fantasia which as a kid I was a big fan of! It also reminded me I was watching a Disney movie.

I really enjoyed this a lot. Nonesense and unbelievable but very watchable indeed! Nice to see lots of familiar faces. Sunny Saver were you @ the Islington screening?

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Saw this at the Vue Islington. I love how friendly everyone from the forum is...spoke to a couple of members

The movie was okay I think. The plot was weak and I found it very difficult to see Nicholas Cage as a wizard. As I said above I enjoyed the Fantasia reference and I thought the CGI was pretty good.

Yes, I was at the back row, next to my mum and 5rannoch, and Beate was on her other side.hdaniel82 wrote:I really enjoyed this a lot. Nonesense and unbelievable but very watchable indeed! Nice to see lots of familiar faces. Sunny Saver were you @ the Islington screening?

Where were you?
MariaLonza who'd given me Rod Stewart tickets was there last night, so I got to meet her for the first time. Told my mum, so my mum kept saying 'did you introduce yourself? did you say thank you?'... 'Yes mum, no mum I'm not 2 years old anymore'.

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Right, I wondered if you were with Beate. I was sitting on the other side of Beate and her OH in the back row, with my friend Lawrence and my OH. Shame I didn't get to meet you, another time eh?Sunny Saver wrote:Yes, I was at the back row, next to my mum and 5rannoch, and Beate was on her other side.hdaniel82 wrote:I really enjoyed this a lot. Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Thought it was like an inferior Harry Potter film, and Harry Potter films aren't very good to begin with. Very generic, cliche-filled, schmaltzy fantasy. But it was watchable and I didn't hate it.

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Islington Vue was packed and it was lovely to see so many FMUKers, and managed to have a good chat with most before the film started. I missed you jpeg, where were you sitting? Sorry a_person, 5rannoch, ucakpam, had to dash off at the end, after I introduced you to ucakpam.
My friend loved the film and was the sole person who clapped at the end and couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. I liked it too as I liked this type of films. Although my enjoyment was spoiled by a very large lady next to my friend who sat and ate constantly, rummaging in her bag and opening can after can, so all I heard from my right was pssst, rummage, rummage, pssst, rummage, rummage
I thought it was fun and entertaining, although predictable and thought I was watching a rewrite of She's out of my League, when Teresa Palmer appeared to be Jay's love interest, she looked so much like Alice Eve. I liked the sorcerer idea in a modern setting. However, the ending was for me a bit flat after all the action and excitement, and although we did not stay after the credits, I did think it was a prelude to a sequel. 8/10

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
There was a "FMUK convention" yesterday at Islington. Thank you for introducing me to other FMUK members, prettyxcool. Lovely to meet more members.
As for the film, not much to add to what has been said. I thought the CGI was good but the story line was predictable. The apprentice's moves at the end reminded me of Son Goku (from the manga series Dragon Ball). 7/10

The film was enjoyable, the effects were really good and thought the storyline was a little simple some may say weak, overall was an enjoyable ride. Didn't stay til the end, so didn't see the scene which opened up the sequel. But did it have anything to do with the character Hovarth? As there was a reminder of the character when Dave picked up his hat in the end scenes and rested it on the gate. Seemed short (@ 1hr 40 mins) and bf thought there would be more 'magic' scenes, but was happy enough with the effects provided.

Re: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice last night at Vue Thurrock, screen no. 1, which was really small and yet it was only 2/3rds - 3/4s full. Guess some people went to the screening of Knight and Day at the Odeon Thurrock, which was on at the same time, but why don't people return tickets if they can't go to free screenings? It took me weeks of trying the Sky website, getting SOLD OUT message before I finally got tickets and it's so annoying when there are so many empty seats.
Before the film started, the usher warned that anyone caught using a mobile phone during the screening would be evicted and this seemed to be an effective warning as the cinema was exceptionally quiet and couldn't see any of those irritating bright lights from mobiles where we were sitting (right at the back).
I enjoyed this film despite it's flimsy good vs evil storyline and predictable ending. Nicholas Cage was brilliant. I rate it 7/10.
