Enjoyed this, only went for the 2D but I dont think that seeing it in 3D would have particularly enhanced the film really. It was a nice take on an old tale. The cinema at Sheffield Cineworld was pretty full and it seemed to go down well. Typical Jack Black character, he played it like he plays all his characters, exactly the same, but it did work. 7/10

Went to see this at Odeon in Trafford today in 3D. We all really enjoyed it, the place was packed had to go to a later showing as the one we wanted was already booked up lol.

Just got around to seeing this. Before I knew much about it I was really looking forward to it but my expectations were lower after reading reviews and seeing the trailer.
In that context I enjoyed it, although it could have been so much better.
Guliver's Travels is one of my favourite books, and there is so much in there. I guess it isn't likely anyone could do a faithful film version - unless it was split into about four parts. So, pick a bit and do it as a self-contained story. Lilliput is good visually, and there are plenty of visual gags (butt-crack man, putting out the fire etc) and I guess it's just about thinking of it as a comedy.
I like Jack Black. Good job otherwise it would have annoyed me. I thought the British actors were hopelessly underused. Billy Connolly! Catherine Tate! Come on!
I was underwhelmed by this, but the ticket was free and it was a pleasant enough way to spend 90 minutes of my life.
I would have chosen to see it in 2D if the cinema had been showing it.
7/10

I agree that to enjoy this movie you've got to be a fan of Jack Black or at least not put off by him. The script and story is average but if the ticket is free you can still enjoy it for what it is: 85 min of mindless entertainment.

I caught this at a kids screening with my brother's earlier.

I laughed once during this largely unmemorable and dangerously unfunny adaptation of one of the finest pieces of literature ever written. It is so far removed from the source material that I felt like throwing the novel at the screen in the vague hope it may make some difference. It's also horribly dull. Watching Jack Black trying to turn an awful script into something more worthwhile was, sadly, completely cringeworthy. And this is the first Jack Black movie I've watched where I have actually wanted him to shut up because he just wasn't making the experience any better.

One and a half stars in my system - 3/10 in the FMUK system.

This movie's alright. I thought it would be better as they have some good cast members like Catherine Tate but it wasn't. Just glad i didn't p*y for this movie.
