Re: The Help
We got to the Framestore for about 6pm to see that most of the FMUK gang was present already. Lovely sandwiches, crisps and drinks were being offered and we had a chinwag and exchange of goody bags and other things (thanks to canadian_turtle for the book!) before we were let into the screening room, only to discover that there were two entrances and some people were sitting in there already! We managed good seats in the last row, and can I just say to the two women who came in looking for seats while I was in the toilet that my OH is NOT an idiot - there was only ever one seat still free and it was the end seat. You wouldn't both have fit there so there was no reason for being rude to him.

Re: The Help
I liked the film a lot but I agree with mattymc13 that the storyline with the boyfriend didn't really go anywhere. There were some genuinely moving scenes and some laugh-out loud moments ("Eat my shit!"), it was beautifully shot, with some first-rate actors (I have a girl crush on Emma Stone as well), and it's a story worth telling, but I am glad I have some more tickets to see it again because I didn't understand all of the heavy Southern accent. Also, OH went to the loo twice which was a bit distracting as well, especially as he didn't use the short-cut at the end of our row but went all the way to the front of the room and out there. Sorry for the shadow on the screen both times, LOL! I was just glad he didn't fall over like that bloke in a middle row!
After the screening we went to a pizza place with bevvy, 5rannoch and PXC, where, upon ordering at the counter, I was asked the odd question whether I spoke German. When I said that actually I did as I was German this was enthusiastically welcomed as the chef was half-German or something and I got VIP treatment in having our coffees brought to the table instead of having to collect them, LOL.
8.5/10

Re: The Help
I like Psychologies mag a lot - I used to subscribe to it for a couple of years. It's the same when you go to a corporate event organised by Executive PA magazine - they always have a pile of mags at each event as well, just in case you lost yours or something, LOL. I've got a few extra copies so if someone wants one, let me know.mattymc13 wrote:Yep, just a magazine. Not even an interesting magazine. They could have given me a copy of Zoo or Nuts or maybe even a bit of top shelf literature. Ah well, I'll just have to make do with this.

Re: The Help
Those two women were just f**king rude. They walked over all the way even though me and c_t were telling them there are no seats available in this row. They then went to your OH making it clear they wanted him to move and then he said, "sorry this seat is taken." The lady responded, "How is it taken?" WTF? She then had a strop because she said it's unfair the seat is kept when the person is in the toilet. Actually you stupid little bitch, Beate was sitting first and then decided to go to the toilet. If she went to the toilet during the screening, not only would it be irritating, she'd still come back to sit there anyway or were you planning to move to that seat during that period? Really irritated me (and c_t ) especially considering how lovely Beate's OH is. Glad they got some shit seats elsewhere.Beate wrote: and can I just say to the two women who came in looking for seats while I was in the toilet that my OH is NOT an idiot - there was only ever one seat still free and it was the end seat. Re: The Help
I would like a goodie bag.Beate wrote:We complained to the Psychologies lady afterwards about the lack of goody bags and she was quite perplexed and asked us to note our email addresses down so she could "sort something out" but then more people started coming back in and she asked PXC and me how many people were in our party, and when we said "about 20" she paled visibly and said to us that she would get in touch with the two of us so we could provide her with more of people's details. I think I am shooting over to twitter now to give feedback there too. More in a mo!

Regarding the two rude ladies: I perfectly understand being miffed if someone is holding a whole row for no reason (people do that at times and it IS frustrating) but we told them you were in the toilet and they still preceeded to then move passed us and exclaim that it was undone that someone was sitting in the middle seat and that way preventing other people to sit down. Uhm hello did you not notice the bag in the one seat meaning it was already taken anyway? Or hear me telling you that it was taken but the person in it went to the bathroom? When they then continued on to sigh and make rude remarks I did the same, loudly, I hope they heard me (I'm sure they must've).

Re: The Help
And put up with their miserable company in our row even longer because they hurt themselves when falling down and can't move away? No thank you.

Re: The Help
I am starting to wonder whether they were the 2 women who finally sat next to me, munching crisps (FFS!) and commenting all through the movie
