I think the difference is that generally they record it like a live outside broadcast where you see then see it 'as live' after the event. An example would be the NT Live encore screenings of Frankenstein. That was what I was expecting, but this recording seemed to be creating a film version - with jumps in location like in a feature film. There appeared to be breaks between the ends of 'scenes' and the re-start rather than continuous movement.
