Delicacy
I'm loathe to start the thread for this because the less attention it gets, the better.
Awful, awful, awful Audrey Tautou romantic "comedy". Bad on so many levels.
Here's my review: http://londonfilmfanatiq.com/2012/04/03/delicacy/
And the imdb business if you really must: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1828995/
I hated this.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

yes, avoid!
5/10
Gutted some French little gems don't get distributed and this non sense did!
The book is apparently extremely badly written and most people qualify it as "train station" book (if it makes sense in English?)

Thanks for your review on this soonforgotten. My favourite line: "The only way Tautou could appear any less interested would be in a meta-Delicacy where the audience watches Nathalie as she watches this film".soonforgotten wrote:I'm loathe to start the thread for this because the less attention it gets, the better.

Clearly, one to avoid.

Re: Delicacy
I saw it yesterday. My friend loved it, loved the poetic acting.
I didn't like it and found the acting too 'frenchie': too articulated, overplayed, too drama-queeny. Too bad cause the idea was good, and it could have turned into a great film.
5/10, only thanks to Dikkenek's actor François Damiens who appears to be a real actor for once, not only a Belgian clown.

Re: Delicacy
Audrey Tautou is fabulous but I thought the story dragged a bit and was boring in places. Didn't find her new man ugly, he was a nice teddybar of a man so found the reaction of all around her quite over the top. The ending was also a bit abrupt and those voiceovers were annoying. And can someone explain to me what job she actually had? One moment she was a theatre programme seller, the next some high-powered executive with "cases".

Re: Delicacy
I love foreign films and this did not disappoint. It was charming and whimsical, and I loved it. It was also lovely to see Audrey Tatou, and her new beau, the Swedish guy was lovely too. I too was left wondering about Audrey Tatou and how she had somehow gone from a programme seller at a theatre to having her own office and heading her own group! 8/10

Re: Delicacy
Well husband and I really enjoyed this film. We thought it was clever and engaging and so much better than the usual run of the mill rom-coms.

Re: Delicacy
I really enjoyed this film too, some good laughs and quirky moments. I liked the Swedish guy. So on the one hand it showed how much promotion you can get if you work very hard for three years but on the other she only had one pair of shoes to show for it!

Re: Delicacy
That's actually one of the 'details' that bugged and annoyed me as it was developed too poorly. She only talks about very neutral and large terms that mean nothing, like they wanted to give the character a job but didn't know any part or tasks of it and tried to fill their ignorance with general terms.Beate wrote:And can someone explain to me what job she actually had? 'Don't forget your meeting' / 'which meeting?' / 'the one you've been working on for months' Oh yeah, obviously.
