Re: African Cats
The film was good. In fact it was really quite lovely to watch. The lions were impressive and the cheetahs cute. I wouldn't normally watch this though and think it's more for the nature channel.
The audience was another matter though. We had our preferred seats on the balcony and were soon surrounded by little kids. Little kids that walked around, talked, fidgeted etc. That's annoying enough but the parents weren't any better, talking as well and making no attempt to quieten their kids down. I had to ask the girl in front of me to sit down as it was quite disruptive. To top it all, we had a baby on the left that screamed through most of the film. I find it so incredibly selfish of families to think "Why should we p*y for a babysitter when we can take the little'un to the cinema for free? Who cares that it will disrupt the whole cinema?" The cinema is also at fault for not having any ushers around after the film starts that could intervene. Parents with screaming babies should be thrown out, as simple as that. If it's not a parents and baby screening and you know your tot is going to be loud, stay at home. Seriously, because I started harbouring dark thoughts about babies "accidentally" falling from balconies. Oh, and your wife taking the tot on her lap for a while is NO excuse to take out the big phone and start illuminating the cinema with it. Some people absolutely have no idea how to behave in a cinema.

Re: African Cats
Good film-doc on the big cats that didnt pull too many punches for the kids. Patrick Stewart mans the narrative helm with enough gusto and sweeping music to almost convince you hes dictating the Battle for Middle Earth or Narnia (or similar epic place).
Beautifully shot but a bit long for me. After a while I was staving off the boredom by naming the various felines after fmuk members, which made it much more fun lol.

this was the thing. I read it was Sammy L too but at the end it said Patrick Stewart (vague Scots accent confirmed this).
Pity. I was quite looking forward to Samuel commenting on a dying lion ("...and so Kali lay down to die. Aint life a bitch") or a fallen hunted gazelle. ("look at dat motherf***ker burn"!) But no.
You werent a lioness.

I hope that he's saying that you were a beautiful cheetah. I'm glad he's not seen me in person as I don't resemble one of the felines but one of the larger ladies having a swimraj101 wrote:Beate wrote:The narrator was Samuel L. I too enjoyed this as I love wildlife and all the children were well behaved at our screening.
Thanks to steve for making sure that we all got a poster for being good

Re: African Cats
It was definitely Patrick Stewart. I know the IMDB page says Samuel L Jackson but as soon as the narrator opened his mouth we realised that it was not him (in my head I was ticking off Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee for a while until the Patrick Stewart connection hit)Beate wrote:The narrator was Samuel L. Yep, it was Patrick Steward! You should have stayed for the credits Beate, they were pretty fun!
I actually don't regret making my way to the O2 this morning; this was all very much adorable and brilliantly shot!
Can I reclaim the grumpy Buffalo? unless someone else fits the description better

Re: African Cats
I'm always a fan of animal documentaries and this was no exception. Besides being able to see it on the Sky Superscreen made it all the more fantastic. The shots were already gorgeous but they became even more vivid on such a big screen. The animal fur was so detailed it almost felt like I could reach out and touch the fluffy hairs. And the swooping camera shots over the land were absolutely breath-taking.
There was a decent amount of action in the scenes where the animals were hunting (though the shots used were not gory, making it still very suitable for children to watch) and there was a tear or two too. A very sweet Saturday morning film.
In the end I am happy we didn't end up being able to go up to the balcony as the stalls area was very empty and some late-comers (who of course HAD to get into our row and walk in front of us) aside, there were no major disturbances from the audience.
8.5/10
Seeing they revamped the Disney logo/name for this docu I assumed there were more in the series and I was able to find these Disney sub-websites:
http://disney.go.com/disneynature/oceans/
http://disney.go.com/disneynature/chimpanzee/ (this only just came out in cinemas yesterday)

http://disneydvd.disney.go.com/disneyna ... -wing.html
I really hope we get a chance to see the others on the big screen too!
