Anna Karenina
Anna is a young and elegant wife of Mr. Karenin, who is wealthy and old. She meets the handsome Count Vronsky. Anna and Vronsky fall in love with each other, and he comes to be with her in St. Petersburg. They are very happy together and make a great looking couple, but soon their happiness gets under social pressures. Anna is hopelessly begging Mr. Karenin for a divorce, but he wants to keep the mother of their child. She has another baby born from her lover Vronsky. Conflict between her untamed desires and painful reality causes her a depression and suicidal thoughts.

Re: Anna Karenina
I do want to watch this but it sounds rather similar to The Duchess, which also starred Keira Knightley.

Re: Anna Karenina
I can't find my copy of Anna Karenina. It is not beside War and Peace where it should be. So I went to b*y another copy - £9.99 in Waterstones. Needless to say, I didn't b*y it, so shall be getting the Kindle version instead. I'll have to read it quickly before the film.
Why, oh, why, Kiera Knightley?

Re: Anna Karenina
I saw this today at the Mayfair Hotel thanks to the very wonderful prettyxcool. Luckily we had a brief Q&A session with the director before the film so he could explain he'd set it in a theatre cos he wanted to get away from the current trend for naturalistic cinema. (Yes, I know.) But a lot of the film was not set in the theatre.
Anyway it was completely sumptuous with absolutely beautiful photography and fantastic costumes. A pretty stellar cast too. They kept the story very simple so you could really just sit back and enjoy. Utilising the theatre there were some weird and some funny scenes, it's quite difficult to explain.
A long round of applause at the end but many (all?) there had some involvement with the film's production.
I enjoyed it tremendously. If you liked A Royal Affair you'd probably like this.

I am really looking forward to seeing it. I think the costumes look amazing. It's a marvellous story.
