Slutty Kidman,I'm on board!! Seriously though I heard it is a mental film, especially after hearing about "that" scene from the people who saw it at Cannes

Trailer made me bored. Trailers shouldn't be that dull. Especially trailers for films that aim to be fun trash.

I thought it was really, really badly acted, poorly scripted and full of sex for budding teen boys, offset with loving shots of zac efron for teen girls. the language didn't know if it was period-specific or contemporary. and most of it was out of focus - is that a way of showing the past now? I was squirming in my seat.

at enfield people left. I really wanted to, but was curious how the ending played out. I don't think it was worth it; i should have got out whilst i could.

i saw it was based on a book. How close is book to film? I hope the book is better.

i am feeling generous and am rating this a 2/10. as there was the bare bones of a story that could have been good.

I'll never look at Nicole Kidman or John Cusack in the same way again. That was at times, hideously bad, and at other times just plain boring.

It was bad and not in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way...that said I did think the last ten/fifteen minutes were actually okay  ...

Thanks to a_person for the tickets, so asamaic and I could see a film tonight! Lovely to meet asamaic for the first time, and thanks to ejwrank and David for saving us seats, as I thought Shaftesbury would, they started letting people in slightly earlier.

Tough and brutal, not a pretty film to watch. Some rather brutal sex scenes and graphic violence which I found really shocking. The cast was strong, but I found it really, really heavy going, although I could not take my eyes of it. 5/10

actually felt sorry for kidman & mcconaughey. brave performances wasted on this pile of rubbish.

i can understand why it got booed & jeered at Cannes.

a generous 1/10.

Zac Efron - lovely. Kidman and Cusack - incredibly strong performances. I love John Cusack but he actually managed to repulse me tonight. I didn't find the pee scene shocking but all the violence was pretty hard to stomach - a bit like in Killer Joe. Poor McConaughey - he stumbled from one misfortune to the next. Atmospherically shot but ultimately not saying much.

Nice to see a few FMUKers including the elusive a_person (albeit fleetingly). She was the first walk-out, another woman followed a little later. I think they both managed to avoid the most gruesome scenes.

5/10

P.S. That bloke loudly trumpeting about getting his favourite seat at WIQ was, yes you guessed it - my OH. Hope he made you all laugh.
