Empire Leicester Square
So another one bites the dust. I heard about this at the Worlds End Premiere.

The best non Imax Screen, one of my all time fav screens. You only have to go in the other rubbish screens to see what rubbish they are, especially screen 2.
Another premiere cinema lost

Re: Empire Leicester Square
I would have thought the publicity from film premieres made Screen One worthwhile...
Love the balcony seats in Screen One, real shame.
Where are the big premieres going to go now? The big Odeon and the Vue don't have as much capacity... Do they?

Re: Empire Leicester Square
Odeon West End is quite small, however I saw Arbitrage prem in there.
Vue West End is a pain, there tends to be several screens booked and depending on how important you are, which tichy screen you end up in. (does that make sense?)
I don't like the big Odeon either, especially upstairs at the back

Great screen, size & comfort, but I'm glad the article mentioned the acoustics. They are quite frankly, hideous! Every film I've watched has had too much bass on the sound effects, and tinny vocals.
At least the cinema itself survives, and potentially 2 500/600 screen auditorium's isn't that bad is it? I've not experienced screen 2 - sounds like I've missed nothing.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
Odeon Leicester Square has quite a big capacity I think, with the balcony and all. But man, this really sucks the Empire screen 1 is my absolute favourite screen in London! Have never noticed the audio issues and I think it's just so comfy and nice from the upper levels.asamaic wrote:I would have thought the publicity from film premieres made Screen One worthwhile...Love the balcony seats in Screen One, real shame.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
It's obvious that the big premieres will now be in the Odeon Leicester Square as that's the second biggest screen there and a look on twitter (@UKFilmPremieres) this morning confirms this. It's never going to be as impressive as the Empire but it's a massive screen too.
