Saw this tonight and thought it was excellent. Funny, heart warming and uplifting, the sort of film that looks easy to make until you see one done badly.

Everyone puts in good performances and every time it gets too close to cliche, fish out of water, culture clash etc it steps away and doesn't take too obvious a path.

Another thumbs up for a film by the writer Tom McCarthy as well, having previously been involved in Win Win, Up and The Station Agent.

Definitely worth catching if there's a screening near you 8/10

I would agree with everything yogi has said above.

A real feelgood film and would definitely recommend it 8/10.

I would also recommend staying for the end credits as lots of pictures of the real people who are portrayed in the film.

Back from Glasgow. Second film I saw this week which was based on a true story. This was interesting with some very good performances from the main cast. 7/10

et a ticket Well my evening started off with me insisting that I don't need to queue up and get a ticket. I come to these screenings all the time and know what I'm talking about. So I wen't off to someone else who pointed out that I was in the wrong cinema

Apologised to the first person, then rushed over the road to the correct cinema. Once there and nicely settled, I realised that someone had brought a young child in. Who on earth thought a 1 year old would be happy in such a film? Child was going Mummy MummY Mummy over and over again and the mother did nothing. After it was taken out a few times it started crawling around the floor and running around :nono:

So anyway the film was really interesting and kept everyone't attention.Sure it was a bit corny but in a nice feelgood way. 7/10

Oh, and when we all left , the baby was flat out asleep.
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

My evening was completely ruined tonight. It was a total circus at Islington, or should I say a kindergarden? Everyone rustled crisp packets and lit up phones and who in their right mind brings toddlers to a screening like this then lets them talk REALLY LOUDLY and run around in the cinema? They went out now and then but unfortunately always came back. If I hadn't been so distracted by my neighbours, I would have gone downstairs and asked them to leave. The idiots next to us insisted on talking all the way through though, and when I for the third time or so told them to be quiet, he developed an attitude problem and said I shouldn't tell him what to do and we were sneezing all the time which got on his nerves! Erm, OH sneezed twice, loudly maybe, but last time I checked you can't help sneezing. You can however help acting like a complete self-obsessed dick who thinks it's ok to observe no cinema etiquette, have no manners and swear at people who try to actually watch the film! So if you happen to be on this board, know that the wrath and contempt of the entire FMUK community is on you, and if I ever happen to see you near me again, I will make sure you're chucked out the cinema.

What I watched of the film was ok but not nearly as hilarious as those idiots thought it was. To be honest, it felt a bit formulaic.

7/10

Saw this tonight in Glasgow Fort & loved it. Thought it was well told, heartwarming and great cast.

Think I would've enjoyed this anyway but the fact it was based on a true story made it even better.

8.5/10 from me - would highly recommend.

Found this to be OK, but definitely a good half hour overlong.
Hilarious to see Susan Boyle in it!
Very predictable though, to the point of being a tad boring midway.
Didn't Alan Arkin look old old old? Much frailer looking that he was in Argo(F**k yourself).

7/10 and really couldn't be bothered to see this again given any chance.

Rather sparse at Glasgow too.
