A delightful easy going watch that was both touching and funny. Redford and Noltes chemistry on screen was fantastic.
The mostly elderly audience (they even made me feel young) at Glasgow appeared to enjoy it.
7/10
Seemingly this was originally intended as a third pairing for Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Redford apparently shelved the project when Newman died in 2008.

Yet again Nolte stole this film whereas Redford came across as pretty bland.
I would've liked to see it with Newman though. Him and Redford always worked well together.

Thanks to scootermcc who kindly provided me with a ticket I was able to see this in the Quay.
I hadn't read what the film was about but thought it was going to be a simple story. Instead, I was highly entertained by watching the relationship and experiences of 2 older men setting off on an impossible journey. The inter-reaction between them was very good with Robert Redford as the straight man and Nick Nolte as the comedian. Some laugh out loud moments made this a very pleasant evening's viewing.
Worth viewing but don't expect huge action!
Marks 7.5/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley

I enjoyed this - I think the occasional Bill Bryson quotes lifted the entertainment factor. It certainly was more entertaining than (e.g.) Reese Witherspoon's Wild IMO. 1 came away with a really positive, relaxed feeling.
Not that memorable, but enjoyable.

I forgot to post my review.
Slightly confuddled by Robert Redford aged 80ish playing Bill Bryson aged 60ish in this.
However, once my brain got over that and just watched the film, I did quite enjoy it. It was a tad slow and a bit similar in some ways to Wild from last year given it was a walking/hiking a trail in America film. Lovely scenery.
6.5/10

Once I got over an 80(?)year old playing a 60something, I really liked it, though it lacked plot direction and most certainly resolution towards the end - perhaps forgiveable given that its of course biographical. Shame though, some extra punch/fiction towards the end would maybe have made this a better movie. Perhaps they want to gently persuade us to b*y bill's book as a filler - twould be a fail though, since his book is pdf-ed all over the tinternet.
Its regular gentle comedy would make a symbiotic antidote to the more spiritual "Wild". I can imagine the double billing posters arriving at outdoor type festivals already.
Great scenery.
mary steenburg I am now convinced is an android, shes been the same age for the past 30 years.
Bryson actually looks more like nolte!
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Easy to watch and great scenery. Good bit of humour in it too making it an ideal gentle film for a Sunday morning. Edinburgh almost full and no latecomers.

7/10

Really enjoyed the subtle one-liners and chemistry of the two characters. Great scenary and music also. I would say 7.5/10 but if you are a fan of the books then probably would want more of the quotes lifted from the book.

An ideal Sunday morning movie. Easy on the eye and the brain.
I've no idea what Bill Bryson looks like so the age difference didn't bother me at all. In fact apart from the references to books this could just as easily have been a film about Robert Redford's attempt to walk the trail. Slightly contrived that he seemed to step outside his back door and suddenly "notice" this 2000 mile long trail going past his back yard.
I never recognised Nick Nolte at all until the end credits (mind you I probably wouldn't recognise him in the street anyhow). I also thought that it was Geraldine James who was playing the wife and not Emma Thompson! How useless am I?
An ideal feel good easy going pleasant movie with lots to look at.
An easy 8/10 from me.
Noticed a few continuity errors in their clothing - meant to be on same day, and not explained by them getting soaked or falling into bogs etc., and as for the ease at which they fell into cars and motels on what was meant to be a wilderness hike....
