High Life

#1 Post by ROBO » Fri May 10, 2019 9:49 pm

3/10
Saw this film yesterday st the local Picture house.
Awful film, which is more Low Life...

Very strange beginning; dire story about a group of mainly young criminals who are sent to space as part of an experiment where the females were artificially inseminated in hope that they conceive and carry a baby to full term.

The Dr running the project is also on board for killing her own children. She is a seriously bizarre women who is initially content with getting pleasure from a phallic simulation machine, but then one night resorts to raping one of her subjects.

The end result is the birth of a lovely baby girl who eventually only has her father (Pattinson) for support...

I felt that I was forever waiting for this film to start that at end I just had to close my eyes for 2 seconds.

On opening them, I saw the credits thinking, what happened, what was the outcome? ...
Oh well, stay well away from.this one.

You didn't miss anything. It did just seem to stop...then the credits rolled. I found the non consecutive sequencing rather off putting, but so glad we were spared any more of that baby screaming.
I thought it was trying to be a bit too Space Odysseyey. It also steals a lot from The Martian.
Not brilliant. Hard going.
I didn't even recognise Robert Pitterpattinson.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

Sometimes I sits and thinks....and sometimes I just sits.
