I saw the trailer for this yesterday so presumably others are also seeing it now? I know trailers can give a very false impression of a film, but so far it looks like an entertaining British film with some star names (Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Martin Freeman, etc) and promising. UK release date is 18 June.

Yet another remake. Not sure about this one but I seem to recall the original French film being quite good.

Ah, so that's why the title sounded familiar and there was a French film on IMDB too! I may even have seen the original but was evidently too dopey first thing this morning to twig. I must check. But at least from the trailer the remake looked good, unlike some, and I clearly can't recall the original if I did see it, so that wouldn't deter me.

I did my William Knowemaytes impression tonight (My whole family are now sick of seeing films apparently ) and went to see this in screen12 at the Metrocentre by myself to boost my "100 free films" score.

It was rather startling to enter the 246 seater auditorium to find literally (I kid you not!) only one other person inside. That situation did not change for the duration of the film. No problems with noisy sweet wrappers, mobile phones, kicking seats, or stinky food - we both behaved ourselves - though to be honest the other guy was so far away I probably wouldn't have noticed anyway!!

"Comedy caper ‘Wild Target’ stars Bill Nighy as Victor Maynard, an uptight middle-aged assassin who fears no one, except for his formidable mother, Louisa (Eileen Atkins).

One day Victor’s ruthlessly efficient routine is interrupted when he decides to spare one of his intended victims, Rose (Emily Blunt). At the same time he also manages to acquire a young apprentice, Tony (Rupert Grint). Now Victor finds himself with two companions, who both think he is a detective, and a very unhappy client with murderous intentions."

I have to say that I did not really enjoy this film very much at all. Whilst it was an OKish storyline, the problem was the comedy aspect of it - the intended humour was absolutely pitiful (think Death at a Funeral) - not funny at all just excruciatingly cringeworthy!

In my opinion it would haver been much better if the story had been played out as a serious thriller rather than "comedy caper".

Nothing more to add really except that Emily Blunt's character reminded me a little of Lily Allen in looks (which is a good thing) and in manners and temperament too (which let's face it, is a bad thing). Rupert Grint was just Ron Weasley but with a different name!

This is another film where I would be interested in what others who have seen it thought about it. I can't be the only person on here to have seen it, surely?

4.5 out of 10 for this from me.

I don't understand how that can happen - how can anyone be sick of seeing films, or partaking in the whole cinema experience - doesn't make sense to me!

Ah, maybe this lifestyle is a calling, not everyone can be dedicated to the cause

I can see the fun in seeing free films (everyone loves a freebie!) but I don't know how people find the time time to manage to see so many!

Silly film. 5/10 cos I'm in a good mood. I won't even tell you what bf gave it cos its rude and you know me, I so hate being vulgar....

My OH gets restless these days if we haven't got at least 2 films a week to go to!

He is a keeper Beate! Quite a few years ago, I went out with this guy who wouldn't stop talking during films (those shown at the cinema not at home). Also had an annoying habit of checking his phone during screenings. I knew it wasn't going to work from that! We just didn't share the same cinema etiquette (obviously v.important!)
