Burke and Hare
A black comedy about two 19th century grave robbers who find a lucrative business providing cadavers for an Edinburgh medical school.
Directed by the legendary John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Blues Brothers, Michael Jackson’s Thriller). Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and Andy Serkis (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Lord of the Rings, King Kong) star in this comedic take on the true story of the famous Edinburgh body-snatchers William Burke and William Hare. With an all-star cast including Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic), Jessica Hynes (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead), Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry and Ronnie Corbett.
Based on the true story about the famous murderers, 'Burke And Hare' follows the hapless exploits of these two men as they fall into the highly profitable business of providing cadavers for the medical fraternity in Nineteenth Century Edinburgh, then the centre of medical learning. The one thing they were short of was bodies.
Black comedy is my favourite genre.
Taking a look at the cast and director, I can imagine how funny this film could be. Looking forward to its release.

I tried looking on Simon Pegg's own site to see if there was any news of previews in Scotland, but there was none. However, any member on Facebook or Twitter could try contacting him to ask!

I'm looking forward to this, the trailer was light but fun, and John Landis is nice enough to stalk me.

Re: Burke and Hare
What a flop! Sadly I think Simon Pegg is going through a regressive phase. I really liked Shaun of the Dead, less so hot fuzz, but this really just isn't funny. I think I laughed more watching The Kings Speech in the last week.
Whats more frustrating is it's a black comedy ready to burst out in hysteria, but it doesn't actually go anywhere very funny...
Tom Wilkinson vs Tim Curry has potential to be very funny but all the laughs were lukewarm politeness rather than laugh out loud and I was in the same audience as John Landis Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Ronnie Corbett! You would naturally expect an ecstatic response rather than lukewarm laughter.
Highlights probably include Andy Serkis' sex scene with his wife and coming up with the idea of a funeral parlour at the same time.
A missed opportunity 4.5/10
