For the Narnia and Ben Barnes fans out there...

Join us tomorrow evening to celebrate the start of the Christmas season and the launch of Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ’. British stars Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley and Will Poulter will join forces with special guests at the switch on of the Regent Street Christmas lights.

The world famous curve will be traffic-free from 5pm, with live performances from the stage situated between Oxford Circus and Piccadillly Circus tube stations. Hosted by Heart 106.4's Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott, performers will include X Factor’s Joe McElderry, singer Alexis Jordan, the cast of the Jersey Boys and the West End Gospel Choir.

After the event, take advantage of the opportunity to experience shopping in the recently opened international flagship stores along Regent Street including Gant, Anthropologie, Banana Republic and Ferrari alongside British Heritage brands including Jaeger, Aquascutum, Liberty and Burberry. For a relaxed lunch or post switch on drinks, visit Regent Street’s food quarters of Heddon Street and Swallow Street.

Also a new trailer:

Its worth clicking on the HD and downloading the 1080 version because this trailer has some outstanding visual effects. I'm actually looking forward to this.

I've just posted a comp to win tickets to this in Leicester. Interestingly enough, it's 10am for a 10.30am screening. Perhaps there are going to be several screenings up and down the country. We may get some free tickets for this. I hope so. I read all these books as a child, and loved them.

They probably do need some good word of mouth, as the last Narnia film underperformed and the film is up against the juggernaut of HP7 Part I

The films performed well enough for the series to continue. There is an automatic fan base that will ensure they don't make a loss. Its a setback for this particular film to have lost the Disney distribution as they were big on promotion, but 20th Century Fox is no slouch for marketing either, probably even better! Its a Christmas release, an entisingly well cut trailer and to guarantee success they switched on this years Regents Street lights, lol.

But you're right, SH, a good word of mouth always help, thats what we're "employed" by SFF to do, right ;)

It wasn't just Disney distribution, they were making the films too, but they thought a sequel wasn't so viable hence 20th Century Fox picked up the rights

Yeah Disney produced the first 2 (funded basically) but their decision was strange though because the first to film grossed over a billion dollars. Natrually the first film made more but the second one still mustered a few hundred million. 20th Century Fox obviously picked up on that train of thought and (disgustingly) added the "shhh, this one will be in 3D, we are so clever, hi five!" thought!

1st one was around 738000000 US dollars, 2nd one was 418000000, so Disney guessed third one would be even less and these days it's alot of money to make franchise pics
