Re: Conan the Barbarian 3D
Oh yes, you were sitting a bit further down, weren't you?
The problem I have with the film is that it wasn't a tongue in cheek parody. If it had been, I maybe could have lived with it, but it took itself terribly seriously. The sexism was also pretty hard to swallow for me - the female slaves with bare breasts who were immediately assumed to be loose women were pretty annoying. Then we get Conan telling that girl from the monastery, who looked demure in a nice white dress and was not flirting with him, that she "looked like a harlot" because she wasn't wearing warrior gear, and of course she succumbed to his charms the next night. Blergh. Got a few beer-addled males in front who found it hilarious when he shut her up by stuffing something in her mouth - I nearly gagged there myself.

lool Slash on steroids.valda wrote:prettyxcool wrote: With the Top Hat, he looks a bit like Slash
This is a film about barbarian times, you cant expect it to be PC and non-sexist. Its the historical films that are non-chauvinist and PC that ought to feel odd.
Thats said, lets not pretend this film was made for anyone other than teenage boys. I think Jason makes a better Conan than Arnie. Arnold was just too unbelievably big to be a historical reiver.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

You probably have a point there, but it just didn't sit well with me. At all.raj101 wrote: This is a film about barbarian times, you cant expect it to be PC and non-sexist. Its the historical films that are non-chauvinist and PC that ought to feel odd.

Re: Conan the Barbarian 3D
The books are quite chivalrous, Conan is quite respectful of women. I'm still looking forward to seeing it as a completely different take on the story. The original Arnie films are so cheesy and pretty dated but DH still loves them.
Thanks for the photos prettyxcool !!

I actually haven't seen Arnie's version, so can't comment, but I prefer Jason any day!raj101 wrote:I think Jason makes a better Conan than Arnie. Arnold was just too unbelievably big to be a historical reiver.
