haha, superhero's post indeed reminded me of this.... but in the case of Israel it's not so much when you get in the country, it's when you want to leave itBeate wrote: A bit like trying to get into Israel, it's 20 questions at the airport as well.

@c_t: if sh had his tickets through Beate (?), he would have mentioned her and then where he knew her from... hence what's FMUK?
(yeah, I am kind of well acquainted with Ben Gourion's checkpoints and "profilers"!)

It was just oh so inappropriate for a film screening.
I wonder if they ask people questions like this before they enter the auditorium for the Oscars ceremony

Re: This Must Be The Place
The tickets were in my OH’s name. I had managed to win a second pair quite last-minute and put them in his name. It was the same PR person I dealt with each time but either she didn’t realise she was speaking to the same person (I had given a different email address) or she didn’t care.Celini wrote:haha, superhero's post indeed reminded me of this.... but in the case of Israel it's not so much when you get in the country, it's when you want to leave itBeate wrote: A bit like trying to get into Israel, it's 20 questions at the airport as well.

I went to Israel in 1989, and I remember them not only asking us hundreds of strange questions (a girl in our group was asked why her name was Sarah), but also rifling through our luggage, squeezing toothpaste and asking me to make an alarm clock go off, with the rationale that had it been a bomb, it would have gone off now. How very reassuring. At least they didn’t search our bags last night!

Sounds like quite an experience at the Jewish Film Festival! I saw the film at the LFF and despite (or perhaps because of) it being a little weird I loved it. Images from it etc. are still in my mind and I'm recommending it to everyone.

Re: This Must Be The Place
Is there any connection between Slackers' screenings and Picturehouse members' previews, please? I mean as Gate is a Picturehouse site, is there any hope that if they do a Slackers' screening, there will be another, open to all?
