Re: The Muppets
I know the weather was not particularly wonderful; however the audience at Greenwich Odeon were dead as a dodo. I know that I was not particularly enamoured by the film, however I felt when I laughed that it almost echoed in the cinema!
I grew up on the Muppets, which I loved (especially Animal & Miss Piggy) so was looking forward to this film - more so than my nieces that I brought with me.
I agree mostly with TheyCallMeMrGlass's excellent review and unfortunately predominantly liked the beginning and the end of the film but was rather bored by the middle bit. It felt like it was made for TV & I'll probably watch it again when it comes on TV, but not before.
5/10

Re: The Muppets
This is what The Muppets do, though. The joke is totally suited for them, they've been doing it for ages. There are a fair amount of valid criticisms that could be made about this film, but I don't think it not being taken seriously enough is one of them. The Muppets should never be taken seriously.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:
But its during the middle act that things took a very bad turn for me. It was bad, ok not very bad but damn did it slide, lacked energy and the humour was very off key somehow. Also, I really hated the nudge nudge wink wink "this is just a movie" running joke. I think many of you love that. I can understand that, it is kinda funny. But I hated it, that joke is suited more for the Naked Gun, Scary Movie type films. I want to be immersed with the muppets world and their story. I dont want to be reminded by the protagonists that hey, this is just a movie and we're just acting (even though coming from a muppet, it is kind of funny).
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: The Muppets
I know and it is funny but in the context of this particular story, I didnt like it. Also, I'm with a dead audience and for me an audience vibe can add or take away from your enjoyment. That's all, nothing more. Telling me not to take the muppets seriously, what the heck do you mean by that?! Oh I wrote an letter to Kermit to whine about the self referential jokes in the new film. Sent it to his swamp home. Never heard back from him yet...oh of course he lives in Beverly Hills, now, doh. I'll have to write another letter!soonforgotten wrote:This is what The Muppets do, though.
