I would go to Pizza Express and have the pepperoni pizza without the pepperoni but with extra jalopena peppers and be well within my points.
As you say AnneJ sometimes you need something tasty to eat.

I work in an office, so not sure how I'm going to hit 10,000 on days I'm not going to gym, but I'm going to try. :D

Fighting a losing battle I fear Anne. I've got a step counter on my cell phone. It doesn't always register the steps, nor did my pedometer. I would walk 20 steps, and see its not registered even 1! I also work in an office and unless I was at a combat class, I never got anywhere near 10000 steps. Still it does give you a rough idea on what you are doing. Try to walk round the office a few times more than usual. Walk at lunchtime - even going to my WW meeting puts on a few more steps 8-)

I did have one week however, that everyday was over 10000 steps. PHew a lot of classes were taken that week

Thats sounds nice, I went to Pizza Express last night and had one of the new pizzas with the salad in the middle. There're only 500 calories or 8.5 points. I had a voucher for 2 for 1 from Weight Watchers, I think this link should work.

http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/images/ ... her_LR.pdf

I managed my 10,000 steps yesterday, but it was hard going, I think it will be much easier to reach 10,000 on gym days.

I must confess I completely fell off the wagon on Friday night, saw some friends that I hadn't seen for ages and got led astray!! On the plus side I was so hungover on Saturday that I barely ate anything, so I figured that they evened each other out!!!

Thanks for the link, I may try that next time I go. I too got off the wagon on Friday. I started off with a massive Falafel in a wrap for my lunch, not too bad. Then I went to the O2 to see Muse. We were in a private box, which includes your own waiter, well it would be rude not to use him ;) I got a burger and chips which was horrid. Even though its on a china plate, with metal cutlery, its still the rubbish burgers that you eat at a gig! Afgter that, pints of larger and lots of double G & T's. The next day cos I was feeling rough, I had batter sausage and chips :tears:

Stil that's been and gone, I'll not get weighed today, and get back to my classes

congrats on the 10000 steps, that must have been really hard to do vx

ok ihave a question which whatever the answer maybe should be of interest to others here.

im wondering if its possible to do a slef fitness analysis to measure your fat percentage, bmr, max heart rate etc all accurately. or is it best to see a specialist? does anyone recommend a good specialist in london?

i started losing weight 3 weeks ago and have lost 4.8kg (10lb). Feels great but i need to know if I am doing this healthily. I could be losing too quickly, i think 2lb a week is the recommended max.

any suggestions ?

congrats, that is a good start! When you start to diet or eat healthily, you tend to lose more in the first week or two, then settle down. If you are losing 2lb a week, that is a good amount, and as its not crash dieting you are not likely to put it on again. At Weight Watchers, they only measure the weight and never talk about BMI or fat percentage. I have some scales that measure both as well as the actual weight. HOwever, I take all that stuff with a pinch of salt. I've seen some recommendations for my height, that I know is not right for me.

Personally I would say if you are worried or have a lot to lose, it can't help to see your doctor and see what he/ she says. Keep up the good work. vx

Thanks Valda. See a doctor? Duh, why didnt I think of that! Even if the doctor doesnt directly do such a test, I'm sure they can recommend or even refer! You're right about losing more first week, I lost 2.4kg first week followed by 1.2kg then 1.2kg again!

My concern I guess is mostly about what I am burning, fat or muscle. Obviously fat is what we all aim for but if doing too much exercise (I am doing a lot) or eat too little calories (I did cut down from 4000 to 2000 calories average which might be too drastic but I dont feel any hunger), I could be burning muscle which is very bad and there is no way of telling without monitoring percentage of fat...I think! I have learnt so much since starting this and is actually enlightening! But damn, maintaining the body is so complicated and with so many different opinions in both diet and training programs can be confusing. But there's no question how much more I appreciate how the body works, what an amazing machine!

WOW thats brilliant, your diet is working and that weight loss combined with exercise sounds perfect.
I've just been on a Diabetic expert patient taster session and the way you are doing it is exactly how they (Dieticians, Nutritionists and Doctors) recommend 2000 calories combined with an increased exercise programme for a man, they never ever recommend any of the "faddy" type of diets food combining etc. :nono: We all had our own diets analysed, mine was OK if I could learn to say NO to keep meeting friends for coffee and cakes!! I am 8lbs overweight (I've lost a stone extremely slowly over the last 4 months - if I could stop stuffing my face it would help) and was told I need to lose the rest to reduce the risk of becoming type 2 diabetic
We went on the course from work to advise patients about the programme not expecting to have our lifestyle assessed but it was a wake up call, I work in a clinic but spend the majority of my time wheeling around on my chair treating patients not actually getting up and walking about.

Thank you for the super encouragement, especially knowing that you heard it from the horses mouth that I'm doing what they recommended :) May I offer you some congratulations too in losing a stone. You dont sound too self praising about it but its still a great achievement even if you do think its too slow but losing a stone is a really big deal and your more than halfway towards your goal! That lifestyle assessment sounds like a real blessing. If only more companies can do the same we may have a much healthier society :)

I hear you about socialising with friends. Its great to be out with your friends but that also means danger of over indulging in junk food. I have always loved having a mocha, or a latte but now I simply drink a normal/herbal/green tea or even a glass of milk and a fruit when in a cafe with work colleagues or friends and I enjoy it just as much. Apparantly, its most beneficial to drink 24oz of milk a day, so I make it part of my snacks. Often, though, I tell my mates "I'm very busy, up to the neck actually, with resting at home"...I'm sure you'll find your own way but do say "NO" if they ask you out too many times :D

Diane, I agree with TCMMrGlass - a stone is a huge achievement, don't play it down. WELL DONE!!! I'm the same with cakes. I decided today would be a new week and no cakes and I'm already losing the will (boss with the bakery has brought goodies in and I've yet again had no breakfast...) MUST RESIST!

TCMMrGlass, wow, also WELL DONE to you! You sound as though you're losing weight the right way, so though there doesn't appear to be reason to be concerned, I'm sure your doctor will be able to advise best. Great advice from Valda. And it's free! Ha! 24oz of milk!? Yikes. I barely drink enough water, let alone milk!

Anyway, well done to you both, and everyone else that's been posting - such great results!!!
