I think children are probably the best judge's of children's films as that is the target market after all ;) while i agree that compared to Tangled and some more recent children's film that B&B does't date as well my girls love both Tangled and B&B we have both on dvd and they are both played often as with Aladdin and Meet The Robinson's

I think it's unfair to compare Tangled and B&B though as they are both from different time periods and with the recent advance's in the quality and style of animation it would be an unfair comparison ;)

Went to see beauty & the beast yesterday with my 2 daughters aged 26 & 29 years old and my little granddaughter who is 2 1/2, it was her first time at cinema n she loved it. It was difficult for my 2 daughters not to sing along out loud as this is 1 of there favourite Disney movies since childhood!! We saw the movie in Braehead & it was only about 1/4 full such a shame as lots of other little kids (& parents lol ) would love it (especially free!)

It's not just about animation, though. It's about the story and how it is told. The response from the children at Tangled Ever After was a lot louder than to BATB. The fact that this was nominated for best pic is insane. The fact that the site my review was meant for said they couldn't publish it is ridiculous. It's like this is a sacred cow when it's closer to what comes out a cow's back end.

I agree your review should have been allowed though, it does not sit well that only certain (more favourable opinions) are published ..

name and shame them because when i go to read reviews i don't expect the reviews to be hand picked ;)

I hadn't seen this in years and on repeat viewing, I found it quite a weak film in light of other Disney efforts. It is a bit dull and the romance story feels incredibly rushed. It doesn't compare as well to the more entertaining films of something like The Little Mermaid, which is more playful with catchier songs, and was released 2 years earlier.

How could they not publish your review? Whatever happened to free speech? I happen to agree wholeheartedly with your review btw.

Thanks. Well, it's her site, so she can publish what she wants, but beyond a DVD review that I owed them and sent off last night, I don't think I'll be writing for them again. I don't particularly want to name & shame because I know her personally (which actually pisses me off even more), but I have enough options so I don't really need someone who must feel like my views aren't valid enough.

I think if this had been a new release it wouldn't have been a problem, not that that makes it right. She even made it a point to say how she hasn't had to reject a review before. It's a good thing I'm so over-confident, I guess. But anyway... yeah, Beauty and the Beast is rubbish.

Well i personally always like your reviews, good bad or indifferent to a film, i don't always agree but i do enjoy the read, i don't think your going to have any problems finding places to publish you opinions so it's no great loss to you though i totally get why your feeling a bit peeved atm

Cheers, I appreciate it. I always try to back up my points. I wish those who bang on (not speaking of anyone specifically here or elsewhere, mind) about the "great storytelling" in this film would explain what makes it so great. All I see is plot holes and nonsense, even as a fairytale.
