Looking forward to hearing havingascreen's menu of the day as I got so many recipes from her last year o/

Hope that you enjoyed your walk Biggins it must be lovely being so close to the sea :D

I got up bright and early so have already done my DVD, I did it before breakfast which was a stupid idea as I found it quite tough as my stomach was rumbling but I had the vision of that young boy in the video that I posted who was so inspirational that I just thought to myself get over yourself and do it. I know that I'm going off at a tangent but there are certain people you meet throughout your life that are so inspirational that they really do have a profound effect on your outlook to life. That's probably why when I'm on my treat day I have visions of MrG and Preston1990 looking down on me. I have met lots of inspirational people from this site and I was just reflecting that every single person that I have met in person has seen me indulging in a cake/sweet of some description hence the extra curves

Menu of the day:
Strawberry and banana smoothie (250 calories) no coffee as it doesn't go with a smoothie.
6 Jacobs savours, 50gm pate and cucumber followed by a weight watchers apricot yoghurt (300 calories)
Quorn cottage pie with green beans, carrots and sweetcorn (400 calories - I had to weigh out everything before as its hard to measure the calories when they are together)
Strawberries, jelly and ice-cream (150 calories) I didn't eat it last night as I had pineapple and coconut yoghurt instead which has the same number of calories but went better after a curry.
100 calories to spare :D

Need to go and do the ironing and housework now, have a fun day everyone o/

Hi how is everyone doing?

I see we have gained some new people recently - that's great! o/ Welcome "legs" and "flohaymcleod", and good luck with your individual quests. I'm sure with the fantastic support, and the good natured teasing, that we give each other on this forum we will all eventually reach our goals. :D

I am beginning to fully realise that there is a great motivational benefit to be gained from posting exactly what I plan to eat and what exercise I plan to take on these boards in advance. If I commit to writing it down beforehand, there's a better chance that this is what I'll actually do. I know this because in the past when I've done this - I've by and large stuck to my plan. (And...I'm noticing even more now, that that is what our weight-loss star :star: Diane does so consistently with great effect.)

If however I write down what I've done in the past I tend to have more lapses, even to the point that when I've fallen off the wagon completely - I won't even come here to write it down - I'll just skip out for a few days. So if you've seen that I haven't posted for a while, draw your own conclusions! :tears:

......with that in mind, look forward to more of my excruciatingly long and terminally dull posts spelling out the minutiae of my daily exercise and eating routines. Apologies in advance for this - but take some comfort in the fact that even if my posts are not working for you, they are actually doing me some good. ;)

So...... may I offer you the following:

Today’s Meals:

1) Porridge with a handful of green grapes. (360 cals)

2) Salad: Chicken, assorted salad leaves, red/green/yellow peppers, black and green olives, grated carrots and celeriac, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, avocado, herby croutons, parmesan shavings. (500 cals)

3) Roast Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, stuffing Yorkshires, roasters and gravy. (650 cals)

4) Pot of Earl Grey Tea with Toast and scraping of Philadelphia light. (150 cals)

Exercise:

35 mins exercise bike

25 mins - Rower

20 mins - Dual-action exercise bike. (Always save the best till last!) 8O

Have a great day everyone - Chocolate? Just Say No!!!

Hey I've just spotted that Biggins has actually been swimming in an outside pool - That hadn't registered with me before so Wow! - have some respect from me for that one. You are my new hero! ;)

Been out for a long walk and felt very pleased with myself only to find I missed out on a code for a film. :wall: This should definately not be allowed when I am trying to be good and on a Sunday!!!

Still sweeping chimneys, Preston? Your menu sounds good but I am not allowed any more than 6 grapes a day as they are full of sugar so had to stop b*ying them as I like them so much I eat a bunch at one go.

Today I had for breakfast one bacon roll and a cup of tea.
After my walk - A small chopped banana with a low fat yoghurt. Glass of cold water with a slice of lemon.
Tonight's meal - Sirloin steak, baked potato and mixed leaf salad with baby plum tomatoes. A glass of red wine (my Sunday treat.)

Before bed - two flatbreads with a scrape of butter and cup of tea.

my lunch was -

2 slices of wholemeal toast with smoked cheese = 340 cals
one small orange = 60 cals
black tea with 1/2 sugar = 10 cals

I'm going to have a Thai chicken noodle curry for dinner (388 cals), here's the recipe =

200g medium egg noodles
200g green beans
cooking oil spray
1tbsp green curry paste
200ml reduced fat coconut milk
150 chicken stock
400g skinless chicken breasts
handful fresh basil (torn)
large green salad to serve

1. put the noodles and beans in a pan of boiling water. Cook for 2 mins, drain, refresh in a bowl of cold water and set aside.
2. Spray a frying pan with oil and put on a medium heat. Add the curry paste and stir for 1 min until fragrant. Add the coconut milk and chicken stock and bring to the boil.
3. Lower the heat, add the chicken and simmer for 6-8 mins until cooked through. Add the beans and noodles, stir and heat through. Garnish with basil and serve with salad.

will have jelly for dessert

So pleased that you are feeling OK now rawr! o/

Well done for getting back to your exercises too!

Sometimes I wish I could get into this running and/or jogging malarkey that some folk seem to excel at! The few times I've ever tried it, in the dim and distant past I hasten to add, I've got so tired so quickly it seems completely beyond me.

I think I'll just have to make do with lower impact more gentle stuff and leave the more serious stuff to you yunguns. :D

I'm liking the look of that Thai chicken noodle curry recipe Havingascreen o/ I'll be having a go at that sometime next week.

What is a flat bread? Is it the Jewish, Indian or Moroccan style as I wouldn't mind trying it?
I really fancy a steak now seeing your menu and I've got Quorn cottage pie which I'm sure I will love.
Lovely to have you back havingascreen and I will be copying your Thai stir fry and glad you're feeling better rawr_xoxo. Preston1990 you are never boring that's me who is and my constant addiction to weighing things ;)

As I've done everything that needs to be done and not too hungry I'm just heading off for a 4.5 mile walk.

Flatbreads are like crackers and only 10% fat according to the package. They are wheat and corn but they have other flavours and you get them in Tesco.

Glad you are feeling better rawr_xoxo.
