Lloyd Webber was completely right when he said this is usually the standard of the final show.
I think Ben was possibly the most accomplished performer last night...he does have a very impressive range and it seems effortless for him. I also really enjoyed Dirk, Roger and Rory. Nathan is good fun, but I fear the ego had landed even before The Lord made a backhanded swipe about his lack of humility.

I thought Niall was lacklustre and I expected him to be a real frontrunner. His makeover has left him looking a wee bit generic for me as well...it's kind of extreme. I also think they made Jon look incredibly artificial and a bit camp. I think he can really portray the emotion of a song but we didn't see that at all last night...I think he has the potential to really surprise people though.

Jeff is certainly the best match with regards to how we believe Jesus is meant to look...but I think he's probably the wobbliest singer of the bunch.

I think David is absolutely lovely and would love to see him blossom over the coming weeks...I hope him being 'gifted' the opening slot wasn't the usual kiss of death because he deserves to stay in the competition for a wee while longer.

I found the names for everybody here - http://superstar.itv.com/finalists/...I would love to be able to say I have a brilliant memory, but alas...I'm a bit rubbish.

My favourites of last night's show were Ben, Niall and Tim (though I'm probably biased in regards to Tim as I knew him before).

I agree with you on Nathan which is a real shame as he definitely has the impressive sound for a rock musical. But I hate his arrogance and I hope he gets voted off because of that so he learns to tone it down.

Niall looked really different because he cut his pretty curls, so sad :(

Jeff, or "baby Jesus", does look like a traditional Jesus but his voice is quite weak compared to the others.

So far I'm rooting for Ben and that's not at all related to how sweet he was to us. I swear :shifty:

I thought they all sounded decent live but Jeff (aka baby Jesus) had the weakest performance, so is in danger of being eliminated.

My frontrunners are Ben  (he sounded amazing in the studio) and Rory.

I said from the first show that I don't like Nathan and it still stands. People comment that he is lovely in person but he appears like an arrogant jerk on TV and too full of himself. It's a shame as he is very talented but his attitude is likely to put people off.

I would say Ben Forster, Nathan James and Roger Wright are my favourites and Ben has the X Factor

Loving the love for Ben  (who, coincidentally, auditioned for X-Factor years and years ago but I don't think he got very far)

Tim seems like a lovely bloke and he's obviously got the chops but in complete contrast to Nathan, I hope they don't keep hammering home quite how body conscious and under-confident he is.

It damages the credibility of the show for me when they clumsily shoehorn in an 'angle' for the sake of it.

These boys are clearly a talented bunch and it would be nice to just watch them progress and hear them sing without the usual X Factor sob story bollocks.

((I feel sorry for the winning Jesus having to work alongside that odious cretin Moyles. What the hell were they thinking with that abominable casting decision?))

I agree but they're always going to be shown at an angle as the director makes certain decisions and the editor others. it's never completely objective unfortunately and I guess the audience wants this as well (or TPTB thinks the audience wants this).

I don't actually know Chris Moyles other than having heard he's a radio presenter so he'll likely lack the experience for a huge production like this. Why is he so bad otherwise?

That's true...it's a shame though as it's unnecessary and distracting. I think 'TPTB' underestimate how savvy the viewing public are.

Moyles is an obnoxious horror of a man...a throwback from the godawful Loaded lad culture of the mid to late 90's who finds it perfectly acceptable to use misogynist and homophobic rhetoric as banter.

He's also a pish-poor vocalist but that doesn't stop him literally ripping the microphone from the hands of his guests at the end of his terrible Quiz Show in order to caterwaul along with the forfeit song as a false show of support or something.

Some of his finest moments,
