Me too.

I didn't know that you were brought up in Switzerland - how fab or was it a Swiss finishing school? Whichever it was they both sound lovely. When I was at school I had a couple of friends who's parents were from Jamaica and one friend with Indian parents - I used to love it when I got invited for dinner as you got to try such wonderful food. I too love chips :D
Kids ..when they go to their friends' house to eat, it can go either way .. they either come home, marvelling at how great a cook the other mum was, as opposed to how rubbish you are(!) or soooooo grateful that you're their mum and can cook properly!!!

When I was very young, I stayed overnight at my Aunty's house while my Mum and Dad went to the Work's Christmas 'Do'!! I had her make my Ready Brek FIVE times the following morning because she couldn't get it EXACTLY the same way as my Mum did it!!! I'm happy to say, I'm not THAT bad anymore!!! ....I'd do it myself if my almost-90 Aunty hadn't got it right after the third time!!!!

Hahaha, hilarious! I remember going to someones house as a kid and being givem cold meats etc for dinner. I did eat it wihout comment (cos I'm such a good girl!) but remember thinking this is not dinner, what a cop out. To be fair, mum cooked (and still does) about 5 different things each night (various curries) so no one was going to compare, really. Am going to pass baby to my mum to feed once it's weaned. Much better than my cooking. Aunties and grandmother always cooked as well as mum so always happy to eat there!

Totally agree with this. My younger sister was always counting calories and when she came back from holiday all she could ever talk about was how much weight she had put on since she came home. Never how good the holiday was or places she had visited while there. Her two girls were brought up to even take sweeteners in their tea and one developed an eating problem and ended up in hospital. She is okay now thank goodness but my sister is still obsessed with her weight.

I was very thin many years ago as I had cancer and while I want to lose weight now I certainly would rather be heavier and healthy than thinner through illness.

Obviously it's not good for anyone to be REALLY overweight. And everyone feels more attractive with a slimmer figure, even men. But being bigger can also be attractive. I think also it's how nice a person you are too. If you're a nice person, that shines through. Wouldn't it be boring if EVERYONE had a gorgeous, perfect body and we all looked the same!! And if we did, we'd all start complaining about our hair or something!!

Its sad when calorie counting takes over people's lives to the extent that they can't even go on holiday without it being the main topic of conversation.
So sorry to hear that you have been through cancer but delighted that you are well now. I totally agree that I would rather have a few extra curves than be thin through illness.

Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow Preston1990 o/

Good Luck today with your weigh in Diane. o/ Good luck too Preston and also for our new member BarryWestwood! Not very often one comes across identical twins! :giggle:

Was not required for jury duty yesterday so pleased I got to see "Brave" and when I phoned the court last night the automated message said my number was no longer required so I can go swimming this morning instead of sitting in a stuffy court room all day. o/

Today's menu : granola and a banana, cup of tea. Lunch homemade soup and a yoghurt. Tonight having prawns and mussels in a seafood sauce with baked potato and salad. Two cripsbreads and cup of tea before bed. Loads of water of course to drink too - and not the water in the pool. ;)

Rain here again today so hope to get out into the outdoor pool before it gets heavy as the rain gets cold on your back. Will wait and see if it is dry enough for a walk this afternoon.

Have a good day!!

Good Morning everyone! How is everyone doing? - Good I hope!!

My bike ride yesterday was quite gruelling. I used my new "well new to me anyhow" Raleigh Criterium Reynolds 501 tubing drop handled bar "racer" for it's first serious ride since I acquired it a few weeks ago. I think it was made in the 1980's - so it is knocking on a bit these days and definately showing it's age. Much like it's rider really! ;) I had done a bit of maintenance on it i.e. new tubes and tyres and adjusting slack in the bearings and giving it a good lubrication etc, but I was still nervous about whether it would be OK and last the course on a longish trip. Because of this I chucked a load of tools into a small rucksack to carry with me in case I had to do any running repairs whilst I was out.

Racing bikes give a much harsher ride when compared to mountain bikes because of their narrower section tyres, hard unpadded saddles and stiffer frames. So this, combined with the more crouched over riding position (due to the drop handle bars) and carrying the rucksack which seemed to get heavier and pull at my shoulders more with every mile, meant that after I'd finished the 30 mile ride, my back ached so much I felt like I had been knocked over by a bus. :tears:

The bike was fast though especially compared to my mates, who were struggling to keep up on their mountain bikes especially on the hills. Great weather - I've got a killer sun-tan from my mid-thighs down to my ankles and on my face and arms too. 8-)

This is the first bike ride where we've stopped for two 8O meals whilst we've been out. This will have to stop - my mates are a bad influence on my diet!! :tears:

Anyhow..........

Thanks for the Good Luck messages for my today's weigh in from Diane, Biggins and Barry! o/

And I'd just like to say welcome to the WW forum Barry - I understand that you knew Diane at school - she obviously carried a flag for you! - as well as the milk crates ;) I think girls like Diane probably find your bad boy image quite appealing. You must let us have your side of the story! o/

Biggins - Re your jury service - I wonder whether you'll be called up sometime in future to serve on the "Barry vs Diane defamation of character - one bottle or two?" trial? I can see that you'd be impartial anyway! o/

Well I've been weighed this morning and I'm happy to report another pound lost!

Today's Menu:

More dishes based around fresh king prawns, salmon steak, and tuna steak.

Have fun everyone! :D

And......The very best of luck to our Diane for her weigh-in today o/ ......

.....and in any forthcoming litigation cases she may be involved with. ;)
