How To Train Your Dragon

Chose to see this over Happy Ever Afters and really glad I did.

It's not hilarious as some others have said, but it's fun, exciting and looks fantastic. Also think it's aimed squarely at kids, didn't spot any clunky movie references for the adults, but not sure if beginning may be a bit scary for younger children.

Would recommend it to all but youngest children and soft centred adults, we both had a lump in our throats at the end!

Only query would be why did most of the Vikings have Scotish accents and the rest were American?

What a brilliant film!!!!!!!!!!!! saw this in Braehead Glasgow, even our little baby loved it!! Was defo chuffed that it was in 3D!

I am just back from our Metrocentre film and lunch trip. We actually had a choice of three films we could have gone to this morning - The Blind Side (again), The Old Dogs and How to Train Your Dragon. We finally plumped to see the Dragon after reading some very unflattering reviews for the Old Dogs.

In the end I was glad we had picked the Dragon one, as everyone in our clan thought the film was very enjoyable. Obviously it is aimed more at kids than adults but the story and the 3D action were quite entertaining.

The cinema was the fullest I've ever experienced for a free showing. I understand from some of the other reviews here that some people were turned away. There were so many little kids at this viewing it made me and the wife smile to see their antics and hear their constant chat and sweet wrapper rustling. Normally I can't abide any interuptions during my film viewings but the kids seemed so cute, they actually added to the experience for me rather than took away from it.

I'd rate the film a 7 out of 10.

I was on the lookout for the fabulously fantastic Andrews, so I could thank her properly for the kind prompt she gave me the other day which led to me securing the Dragon tickets but unfortunately I failed to spot her. She really is such a kind hearted sole who does so much for FMUK and its folk.

I found Spanner's review intriguing (and secretly I was dying to know more about the incident she hinted at) - no more meat thermometer in the neck stabbings have occurred I trust!!

Also I'd be interested in knowing what is the most number of times anyone has seen The Blind Side at free showings - perhaps this could be included in Steve's poll.

I too saw this at the Metrocentre with anjirose and 6 others.
We had decided to come in later as thought the screening wasnt going to be too busy. Glad we got there early as there was a huge queue at the door.

I was looking forward to this film as I was familiar with the book series. My 11 yr old son (who read them all) said the film was in reverse of the books and if making a comparison would be 4/10. But as a stand alone film - he gave it 10/10 as did the other 2 kids. I give it an 8.5/10. Hubbie managed to stay awake throughout which is a definate sign it was entertaining. Some gripping moments, animation and 3D was superb - much better than other recent films like Alice in Wonderland.

I too questioned the reason for the Scottish accents of the Vikings - strange!?!

Well worth a watch.

p.s. Spanner: hope u are feeling better after that 'rude man' incident. The cheek of some people!!!

Ha Ha.. It was rather entertaining.. just wish I had my popcorn to take it all in properly but did not want to loose my space in the queue... Cant believe I was so close to meeting you all... next time maybes... hee hee :O)

Oh yes. I also got an email from a friend about bottom thermometers made by Johnson and Johnsons which is what I thought of - apparently "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested and then sanitized." Nice.
