I'm not the last of the known FMUKers to write a review.
After a long day of funeral and hospital visits, I finally made it to the screening . . . and was entertained by a lovely wee film! Nice use of the Proclaimers songs with a snapshot of life today involving 2 young soldiers returning from active service. Great fun spotting places and people I know. This film definitely provided the "hot chocolate" feeling!
[spoiler]The attitude of one soldier about the idea of moving to England may get some stick when film viewed down south!

Really enjoyed this film - more humalong than singalong but the real bonus was the Director personally introducing the film and giving us extra people to spot in the film . The Proclaimers were just where he said and I spotted the man himself !!

Lucky enough to see this from the couches in the Grosvenor with McG, Wee Yinster and my mum. Dexter did a wee intro and then dashed off, it would have been good to have had a chance to ask questions after the movie but he ran away down south.
Mum loved the movie big time and I really enjoyed it. Its a happy clappy feel good movie and well worth a wee night out. Great to see places you know on screen and loved seeing the Proclaimers outside the pub. Also saw myself in a street scene, but if I'd blinked I'd have missed me! A good wee night out. Nice to meet Chelle1973 afterwards as well, albeit briefly. 8.5/10

Nope not true. I seen it twice now. I think they got confused and meant Jason Flemyng who played Harry.

This was terrific fun.
nice intro by the director.
only criticism would be the use of that jaded hackneyed old tactic of having people in the film applauding, in order to get the audience to applaud.
seen it to many times for it to work anymore.
besides that, it was a gem. Special mention to jason flemings film stealing musical number & also to jane horrocks who shone above everyone else.
9/10
spotted the proclaimers cameo, but missed the director's.

The Director had to make a mad dash from Cardiff to Bristol last night, though great to see someone make an effort to come to see us. When he asked if the audience knew what the film was about the loudest reply was 'no', 'what, no one watches the BBC?', he said. It would have been good to have had the lights up to see him, in true Cineworld style they came up after he left.
First I aplogise for OH, he does not liking 'musicals' and (he classed this as one) for the growling until I gave him an educating elbow. Then he went to sleep and snored........ men!
Well the rest of us in the audience DID like the film and some of us were singing along with the songs - well, the ones that were singles. Yes, it had its clichéd moments but I had more laughs in this film than in the last couple of american comedies put together.
9/10

I thought this film was quite good having seen Dexter Fletchers previous work in Wild Bill (which is excellent by the way) i was expecting something along those lines, it was certainly interesting to see him direct a musical and thought it was much better handled than Les Mis (which I just could not connect with on a character level). The Q&A after the film was great with Dexter he answered both my questions and was also happy to take criticism of it, and according to him the Liverpool FACT showing was the only sold out one, but overall this film is worth checking out especially if you want to see Peter Mullan sing!!
