So they were the press, huh? well, thats the last time I'll read any of their reviews, those sad stuck up bunch of...oh I just pity them!
Btw Jonathan Ross just did his very last Film 20XX last week, gonna miss that nutter. I expect Mark Kermode will take over who I like but he aint no Jonathan.
MK said on the podcast that he's never been asked and never would be asked as he's too opinionated. However Claudia Winkleman? What on earth is that about? Ah well at least I won't bother watching the show
Well I will give Claudia a go and see what she makes of it. I quite like her as she always seems quite funny and doesn't take herself too seriously.
P.S. Did anyone else see there is already talk of a sequel to Kiss-Ass........

Yeah, Valda, give her a chance

I think she might give it a refreshing feel, she's lively and apparantly knows her movies. I admit she might be a more girly orientated reviewer (we'll see) but apparantly the format will include reviews from other film genre enthusiasts too, to balance out opinions, which do sound like a good idea. I'll miss wossie for his enthusiasm for niche genres such as hong kong movies (which I'm a fan of), and horror but the new format may still cater for that I hope.

There is an interesting article of how Kick-Ass nearly didn't get made in this week's ShortList (page 34) and an interview with Aaron Johnson.

I'm sure if Kick-Ass spent his time beating up immigrants he would've loved it...
Tookey will never be able to top his Watchmen review - a masterclass of film criticism:

What the...? That reviewer just called me a sad, brutalised, immature, deranged pseudo-intellectual sociopath....How dare he calls me sad.

Joking aside, its good to have people like Christopher Tookey to at least make us bloody think. Come to our senses a bit. He doesnt cower from his principles regardless if they are extreme.
I enjoyed Hit girls antiques and enjoyed the film. But I am selfish. I want my entertainment. But is my entertainment worth the cost of at least one child going out to b*y a flick knife like his idol, Hit Girl, and subsequently stabbing someone with it...yeah I know the counter argument is he would have stabbed someone regardless but how do we know for sure? The point is I do not think about responsibility when I go watch a film. Neither do most people. But some do, and one of them is Tookey and we're better of for that because at least he will get us and film makers thinking about responsibility for society.
In the old days, hanging was public entertainment, people would b*y ice cream before the main feature started and then watch the hanging and cheered even more than an audience at a Star Wars premiere. They were people like us. Then a newspaper hangings and theatre reviewer (probably Tookey's ancestor) had the audacity to say hangings was wrong to which the public generally thought the reviewer was an oddball who is trying to rob them of their entertainment.
Ahh..if only I was living in those days...to think I could have watched a real life hanging and kids would love it too.

Guys, I confess I was really looking forward to this having seen the trailers and read the hype and yet I left the cinema disappointed. To me, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The actors were well suited to their parts and gave it plenty but I just felt the script didn't do the whole thing justice, it was somewhat lacking somewhere. I've thought about it over the weekend as I saw the film on Friday and I can't quite put my finger on it as to why I think it was lacking, so i'll just have to say that, to me, it was.
6/10. I sooo wanted to give it more.
